Alexia entered the inpatient treatment program where you are a chemical dependency counselor. She stated that?

Saturday, June 18th, 2011

Alexia entered the inpatient treatment program where you are a chemical dependency counselor. She stated that she needs help for drug addiction and possibly alcoholism. She is a 32-year-old, divorced, Caucasian woman, employed as an administrative assistant at a local human services program. She lives with her 11-year-old daughter, Christine, in an apartment located near her job. Although she makes a relatively low salary, Alexia has managed to support herself and her daughter without financial support from Christine’s father. Alexia was married briefly to Christine’s father when she was 20, but left him after he became physically and sexually abusive toward her. He was also an alcoholic. Until recently, she had almost no contact with him for many years. Her widowed mother is a strong support for Alexia and Christine, as are two cousins, Denise and Moira. Alexia reports growing up in a “normal middle class family” and states that her childhood was “good” despite her father’s occasional drinking binges. She is the youngest of five children and the only girl. Alexia reports having little pleasure in life and feeling tired and “dragging” all of the time. She tells you that her difficulty in standing up for herself with her boss at work is a constant stress orShe reports to having tried AA two years ago, but wasn’t able to stay sober for more than six months. She began drinking regularly (several times a week) around the age of 13. She recalls having felt depressed around the same time that she began drinking heavily, although she states she has very few clear memories of that time in her life. Alexia’s drinking became progressively worse over the years, although she did not begin to see it as a problem until after she began using crack cocaine, at around age 28. She reports feeling depressed over much of her adult life; however, her depression got much worse after she began using crack daily. She feels hopeless about her ability to put her life together, and is doubtful that she can achieve sobriety. alexis was recently raped by her drug dealer and his friend, which resulted in a broken jaw and one month’s absence from work. she tell you that she “only got what she deserved” for being in the wrong place with the wrong people at the wrong time. her ex-husband is trying to gain custody of her daughter now that he has been sober for two years. alexis hopes to get sober so she can fight this custody battle, and “be the mother her daughter deserves”.1) i want to know what is actually happening in this client’s life. 2) what must be addressed to improve the situation. 3) how would you asses this client and why. 4)what diagnosis would you give this client and what criteria are you basing this diagnosis on. 5) what treatment options would you recommend for this client and why? 6) what is your working hypothesis about this client’s problems with alcohol and drug issues

How am I going to look for addiction treatment centers in Orono, Maine?

Sunday, May 22nd, 2011

I want to do this for my mom. Her alcohol consumption has really increased lately. She was against alcohol before, but ever since she and my brother had a fight and my brother moved away, she’s really changed. I really want to help her get her act together, and I think I will be able to convince her to go to an addiction treatment center if I could already tell her about the centers that she can choose from.

Can I force or otherwise compel my drug addicted/profoundly depressed daughter in law into treatment?

Thursday, March 10th, 2011

My beautiful, smart, funny daughter in law has been living with my husband and I ever since her husband, my son, was sentenced to 8 years in a fed. penitentiary. Unlike most mothers & daughters in law, we have a very close relationship and I love her as if she were one of my biological children. Since my son’s incarceration she has slipped into a deep depression and exhibits extremely self destructive behavior. She drinks heavily from the time she wakes up until she passes out and its recently become clear that she is using heroin several times a day intravenously. I don’t know the extent of the heroin addiction but after finding her passed out on the kitchen floor covered in her own vomit, I noticed extensive track marks and bruising on both of her arms while cleaning her up. She used to light up every room she entered but now its as though a storm cloud follows her everywhere. While she hasn’t implicitly threatened suicide, she tells me she ‘just wants to die’ and one night asked me ‘why wont you just let me go?’ I know this is a lot of extra probably unnecessary detail, but I want there to be no doubt that I am doing the right thing by trying this avenue to get her the help she needs. She is a danger to herself and if she continues down this path I know she will die…I need to get her help but I have always been told I can’t force somebody to help themselves when they really don’t want to. Is it possible to get her medical power of attorney and force her into rehab? I know some of you are probably going to tell me to try tough love and to throw her out, or that I am ‘enabling’ her by giving her a place to destroy herself, but I can not in good conscience throw her out.

Sister coming home from an eating disorder treatment center. What kinds of foods should we have in the house?

Thursday, September 9th, 2010

She’s been at the center for 21 days. The nurses called to talk to us about post-center treatment and how we can help her. But my mom and I are both lost at what to stock the kitchen with. Some people said “Whatever she likes” but then some people said she’ll binge on that and purge. So…. now I don’t know…. thanks!

My mom just went into treatment for alcohol abuse, when she calls me what should we talk about?

Thursday, August 5th, 2010

She has always been very secretive about her life and doesn’t like me to know her “personal” business, so I don’t know if I’d be digging myself into a deeper hole if I started asking her about the treatment center, etc. She’s only been there for two days and I’m expecting a phone call from her today.

What’s the treatment to heroin addiction?

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

I’m addicted to heroin. The first time I tried using heroin was the night I discovered my boyfriend cheating on me. I was heartbroken and devastated. One of my classmates, Mike, offered me heroin. He said that it’s the best remedy for a heartbreak. I tried it and I didn’t like it at first but I found myself wanting to have it in my system again. I became addicted to it and I love the euphoric feeling that it provides. Just recently, I realized how my addiction to heroin affects my family. I’ve never seen my mother so downhearted and miserable. I want to change. I want to give up my addiction but I can’t do it alone.

Can addiction treatment be undertaken by pregnant women who use drugs?

Sunday, April 25th, 2010

Or would this cause the baby more harm? I’ve heard that the baby can get addicted to methadone if the mother takes it while the baby is inside her womb. Should the woman just stop her use of drugs and wait until the baby gets born before she seeks treatment?

Skin Care Treatment Right for You!

Sunday, January 17th, 2010

To have good skin is synonymous to being confident. That’s why skin care is probably one of people’s most common luxuries. As most cosmetic companies such as L’oreal, Estee Lauder, Clinique and many others gain popularity because of their make-up and other cosmetics, they are also well known for their skin care products. But to take care of your skin properly, you must know some facts which are beneficial for your skin care, whether you are a teenager, a mother, or even a guy.

You could have normal, dry, oily or combination skin. Dry skin needs more moisture and would benefit from rich moisturizers, like Clinique’s Moisture Surge Extra. Oily skin is more prone to acne, so you probably need some cleansers with antibacterial properties, such as tea tree oil or salicylic acid such as The Body Shop’s tea tree line or L’oreal’s Pure Zone. Combination skin, as well, is prone to acne. A mattifying face cream should do the trick for those shiny areas, like Estee Lauder’s Sparkling Clean line. Normal skin just needs a gentle cleanser and moisturizer. A skin care regimen with Cetaphil shall definitely work wonders.

Here are some surefire tips to help you get that glowing and smooth skin, regardless of what skin type you might have:

- Wash your face and then put pieces of facial tissue paper or oil blotting paper on your cheeks, forehead, nose, and chin after an hour. This will check if you have oily skin, combination skin, or normal skin.

- For oily & combination skin, consider using oil-free medicated cleansers and a face moisturizer without too much richness. Do not over-wash your face as it will produce more sebum, thereby making it oilier.

- For dry skin, a moisture-rich cleanser will do the trick. Always moisturize, especially in the morning and night. If you feel dryness during the day, consider buying a facial moisturizing spray like Evian.

- If possible, try using mineral makeup or cosmetic products. Since the bloodstream absorbs almost 90% of what females apply on their skin, you might want to consider using pure makeup without any harsh chemicals and additives.

- If you develop allergies towards various skin care products, consider consulting your dermatologist immediately or switch to hypoallergenic products.

- Use minimal makeup to let your skin breathe.

- Drink water, get enough sleep and take vitamin supplements.

You should develop the right skin care regimen for you to have that glowing & smooth skin. Sometimes, this might be a challenge because you have to experiment a lot on which products or regimen will work out for you. Of course, going to a dermatologist should still be the best. However, not only products give you that glowing skin – natural ways such as eating fruits and vegetables, drinking milk and water can also help your skin to be supple and smooth. Get enough sleep and you will wake up like you just had a facial – definitely a good way to start your day.

Diet for Gestational Diabetes – Symptoms, Treatment and Prevention Advice

Saturday, January 16th, 2010

Diet for gestational diabetes, this article is about the most suitable diet for women suffering from this rare disease, but it also gives information on the symptoms and causes, together with the treatment and prevention.

Diet

Start the day with a small protein breakfast, for example eggs (not fried), brown bread and peanut butter Follow this with a small protein meal after 3 or 4 hours, maybe skinned fish, lean meat, eggs, nuts, cottage cheese, peanut butter Plenty of fruit, green and leafy vegetables Milk should be taken in moderation and preferably should be skimmed Sugar, sweeteners, sweets, pied, cakes, pastries, soft and fizzy drinks, marmalade and jams and cornstarch should be avoided, Definitely not allowed are all junk foods, packaged meals, frozen foods, canned fish and soup, butter, cheese, mayonnaise, margarine and thick and sour cream. Avoid cooking oils by steaming, baking grilling or boiling

Part of this diet for gestational diabetes is plenty of exercise

Symptoms
In fact symptoms for this type of diabetes are rare but they include, increased thirst, a need to urinate frequently, and extreme tiredness.  Checking  urine for glucose is a routine antenatal test and all mothers to be should have their blood sugar levels checked between 26 and 30 weeks  into pregnancy.  Is such a test identifies a raised glucose lever a more detailed test is recommended.

Why some women develop gestational diabetes and some don’t  is unknown, but the risk is increased if there is a family  history of gestational diabetes, strangely if the mother to be has previously given birth to a large baby (eg over lb9 14), if there has previously been a still birth, the sufferer is overweight or obese or has polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).

Treatment  of Gestational Diabetes
Sufferers will be referred to a specialist clinic and will have more frequent antenatal appointments.  Blood sugar levers must be controlled which means regular test of blood sugar (glucose) levels and a carefully planned diet along the lines of the one already outlined.  Regular but moderate intensity exercise such as walking or cycling can help to reduce blood sugar levers.  About 30 minutes a day that gets the patient slightly breathless is recommended by the Dept of Health.

Prevention
A healthy lifestyle reduces the risk of developing any form of diabetes, as does eat ing a balanced diet and taking  regular exercise and controlling weight which is more easily achieved by following the diet for gestational diabetes.

Infertility treatment

Saturday, January 16th, 2010

Have you ever wondered how to get pregnant? This question evokes varying responses from different people. Romance and emotion do play their part in the decision of having a baby. However, it is not uncommon to feel pained and frustrated, especially among the couples who are not able to become parents). Ideas of a kinky nature are bound to come to such couples.

Most newly wed couples take adequate protection against having a baby too quickly. However, in a matter of months, even as the duo is still getting to know each other properly, the eagerness to conceive a kid increases. This is hardly surprising, given the natural instinct of motherhood in ladies. A wife always wants to become a mother, since that gives her a sense of fulfillment. Thus, even in a fiercely competitive world, where the cost of everyday living runs into thousands, the craving for a baby remains high.

However, the females need to know how to get pregnant in a proper, healthy manner. The welfare and healthiness of both the mother and the kid, who would be seeing the light of the world soon, is of paramount importance. Hence, a careful perusal of the following discussion is necessary:

• Women should start preparing to become a mother, at least 3 to 4 months prior to the actual delivery,
• Holistic measures for the maintenance of good health conditions is necessary for both the mother and child,
• A soon-to-be-mother should completely shun smoking and drinking habits,
• It is of paramount importance that no drugs of intoxication are consumed,
• Healthy, adequate nourishment is extremely necessary for women at these times. This is because both the pre-delivery and post-delivery periods are generally rather stressful for them, and
• For maintaining the desirable health conditions, minerals, proteins (that are easy to digest) and minerals should be consumed in adequate amounts.

It is also crucial to pay heed to some other important factors. Some such factors are:

? Thorough knowledge of one’s own body ? The period of ovulation in a woman is the ideal time for her to conceive a baby. Thus, she should be aware of the time of ovulation. There are, fortunately, many ways to find out what the time of ovulating would be. The ‘Post Ovulation Time’ (also termed the Luteal Phase) has to be estimated. This period, i.e., the time between ovulating and the date of commencement of the menstrual cycle, generally is fixed at 14 days in most women. The period starts after the length of the Luteal Phase, or 14 days after the occurrence of ovulation. There is an alternative way to find out the period of ovulation, which is based on the Basal Body Temperature method (i.e., the BBT technique). In this method, the temperature of the vagina is recorded by a specially-made BBT thermometer. This is done everyday in the morning. During the period of ovulation, this temperature rises significantly, and such increases can be easily tracked. For higher chances of conceiving a baby, sexual intercourse at these times is ideal.

? When does sexual union helps in conception the most? ? This information is necessary, since it ensures that the sperms of the best quality enter the female body at the time of ovulation. Sperms should have quick reaction time when a woman ovulates. Hence, fresh sperm is required to be present in the body of the female immediately before ovulating. However, there may occur certain problems in the sperm of the males too. In such cases, men should not be releasing sperms, for a minimum of 3 days before the scheduled day of sexual union. These data is extremely important, in case you are wondering how to get pregnant.

? The ideal frequency of lovemaking for higher chances of conceiving ? Among other factors, a correct estimate of the ovulation period in women and the overall physique of men determine the ideal frequency of sexual union. There is a school of thought that, sperm count goes down, with a resultant weakening of the male sperm, if intercourse is held everyday. Conversely, others tend to think that the male sperm becomes ineffective, old and stale (with much lower potency) if it remains within the testicles, due to prolonged periods of abstinence. It is generally recommended that, sexual union, during the period of female ovulation, should be held about once in every 2 days.

It is always better to provide holistic solutions to the question of how to get pregnant. Such an approach helps to gain an insight about the inner workings of our body, and the reasons for not conceiving earlier. It also comes up with several usable solutions to this problem, including medicines and herbs of Chinese origin as well as changes in eating habits and overall lifestyle. Suitable exercise methods and, if required, acupuncture is also recommended. Unlike the conventional methods, the holistic approach has no adverse side effects, and has a much higher chance of providing the desired results. Hence, in these cases, holistic approach works much better than conventional ways.

Pregnancy Miracle Book. Infertility Treatment Guide

Saturday, January 16th, 2010

As you have found this article, the chances are that you have already heard about the infertility treatment guide that is taking the world by surprise, Pregnancy Miracle Book. It is an ebook authored by a nutritionist and a woman who was once infertile. Even though Lisa is a mother of two kids today, she was struggling to have children for many years and even underwent various kinds of infertility treatments to try and become pregnant. Surprise surprise none of those western medical treatment types could get a successful conception for her.

For a Comprehensive review of the Pregnancy Miracle book, go to http://pregnancymiraclereview.org/

Ms. Olson was quick to learn that simple things you do everyday can be harmful to the natural balance. For example, if you are a smoker or a drinker that can be very bad. Ever been around a man or woman who drinks a lot of coffee or smokes excessively? Even if they haven’t smoked or drunk coffee for days, you will be able to smell the coffee or the cigarette when you are with them. Why? Because the toxins in these things get absorbed into your blood. These chemicals will tell the brain that there are high toxin levels in blood and that you should not have a baby. If you do, you’re probably endangering the fetus.

By doing all this reading Lisa learned a lot. Knowledge is worthless without practice. She was willing to experiment it on herself. That was the whole purpose of all this right? She wanted to get pregnant. It didn’t take long for the dream to come true. She conceived within months after following the guidelines that she learned. It was certainly no fluke because she got pregnant twice, not once.

Now that she got pregnant and gave birth to healthy children, she was impatient to share it with the world. She knew that there are tons of other women all around the world that are dying to have children yet are unable to do so because they do not have the knowledge that Lisa has herself. This is when she decided to write all she learned in a book and publish it as Pregnancy Miracle. It was indeed a miracle and has become a hit all over the world. As of 2009 it has produced mothers in over 127 countries.

Acid Reflux Treatment In Pregnancy Makes A Difference

Friday, January 15th, 2010

Acid reflux treatment in pregnancy can be a little tricky. Balancing cures, diet and exercise with what’s good for both avoiding reflux and sticking to doctor’s orders for the baby’s sake can be tough.

Let’s face it, sleeping can be difficult enough during pregnancy and the third trimester’s the worst. Unfortunately, this is generally when acid reflux tends to rear its ugly head.

That’s right. That awful burning feeling in the back of the throat, discomfort that feels like fire and a general sick feeling that makes sleeping almost impossible.

To deal with reflux in pregnancy, it’s a good idea to understand first why it is so common. There are a lot of reasons acid reflux and pregnancy go hand-in-hand along with the typical heartburn many experience right out of the gate.

First off, pregnancy hormones can simply wreak havoc on the body and then there’s the simple fact that the wonder of life that is your baby can, and does, press on organs in ways a first-time mother could never imagine. Sleeping can be hard enough without acid reflux, but it’s an unfortunate side effect that can hamper the last few weeks.

So, what’s a mom-to-be to do?

The first thing is to relax. While acid reflux is a nightmare, keep in mind that unless it’s a medical condition that was present before the pregnancy, it will likely go away as soon as the baby is born. There is a light at the end of the tunnel.

When trying to treat reflux in pregnancy, remember pregnant women cannot or should not take a lot of the medications that are suggested for acid reflux under normal conditions. Thus, some pre-emptive strikes to avoid the condition are in order.

Here are some things that can help a pregnant woman avoid horrible bouts of acid reflux and things to do to relieve the symptoms if they start:

How to avoid an attack:

* Stay away from foods that can cause reflux. This means just say no to chocolate! Sorry. It also means steering clear of acidic foods such as juices and fruits, tomatoes, vinegar and fried and fatty foods.

* Since you’re pregnant and should already be staying clear of caffeine this hopefully won’t be an issue, but if you’ve been having a few sodas or coffees a day, cut that out of your diet right away.

*Limit food intake. Don’t overeat.

*Don’t eat right before bed.

*Drink tons of water. This is not only good for helping stave off an acid reflux attack, it’s also good for you and the baby.

*Elevate yourself when you sleep. Acid reflux involves a “backflow” of stomach contents into the esophagus, stop it before it starts by careful placement of pillows.

Even the best-laid plans don’t always work for a woman nearing term. If acid reflux strikes, check with your doctor about what you can take. Some find that pregnancy-friendly Tums help, others find getting up, walking around for a little bit followed up by some water does the trick.

Don’t get discouraged and just do your best to relax and let the symptoms pass. Remember, acid reflux in pregnancy tends to go away completely after the baby’s birth. Think of it as a little bump in the road on the way to something fantastic and you’ll do fine!

Different form of allergy and its treatment in homoeopathy

Friday, January 15th, 2010

ALLERGY

It is a commonly used term. Those who suffer from allergy they take it as a part and parcel of life. They believe it has no treatment. But the fact is allergy is an immune disorder and it is perfectly curable in homoeopathy. Because in homoeopathy the immune system is stimulated in order to cure a disease.

Let us first understand allergy at a glance.

It is the hypersensitive reaction of the body towards certain substances called allergen. Allergen can be dust, smoke, any food or vegetable or any weather, any smell, sun light etc. Allergy can affect people of all age groups

Cause-

a. Lack of body immunity

b. Increased body sensitivity

c. Family history of skin or respiratory or any major illness.

d. history of suppressed skin disease by external application or antibiotics.

The symptoms of allergy mainly appearing on skin and respiratory system are as follows-

1.Dust allergy- On slight exposure to dust; even from sweeping a floor, from opening an old news paper, fume from kitchen do you get itching in eyes and nose? Then sneezing for a long time which is followed by runny nose and eyes? If yes, then you are suspected of having dust allergy.

You are scarred of doing morning walk as the sweepress on the road may be sweeping and the dusty surrounding may aggravate your dust allergy. You don’t like to do evening walk as the home coming vehicles leave the road full of smoke and fume. The moment you inhale that air, the sneezing starts.

Tips-Avoid exposure to dusty environment and use a cloth to cover your nose while passing through a dusty road.

2. Allergic rhinitis-Sneezing starts early in the morning as soon as you wash your face. Constant sneezing followed by running nose and eye. This often is followed by headache (sinusitis). In winter the condition is worse. Constant itching and irritation in eyes cause redness of eyes. Watery discharge from nose is acrid which causes erosion of skin of nostrils.

Tip- Use leukwarm water for washing the face in morning and bathing.

3. Frequent sore throat-Does slight intake of cold drink, pickle, sour food, fruits, exposure to air condition etc. cause throat irritation, pain in throat with difficult swallowing etc.? It may be pharyngitis and tonsillitis. Sometimes these symptoms lead to viral fever. You avoid watching movie in theatre as exposure to A.C will affect you. You avoid joining a party as you can’t have cold drinks there. If these are your problem then homoeopathy has a lasting solution for you.

Tip- Avoid the fruit with citric acid and other food causing sore throat.

4. Sinusitis- There are 4 pairs of sinus (air filled pockets) present in our face. In cases of recurrent respiratory tract infection these sinuses gat infected and leads to headache. Headache from head bath, frontal headache, headache between the eyebrows, at the root of the nose, around the eyebrows , swelling of eyelids with heaviness in head, can’t bow down the head etc. are the main symptoms of sinusitis.

Tips- Avoid cold exposure, dry the hairs immediately upon taking head bath.

5. Asthma- If the above given complaints are not taken care of then often they lead to bronchitis or asthma. Here you have shortness of breath because of contraction of airway muscles. The attack may come with or without sweating. Craving for air makes you restless. It compels you to use nasal spray. But gradually the doses of the spray increases making your body resistant to that. Other side effects also get added.

For example- Steroids used for asthma reduces adrenaline in body. Hence it is followed by fatigue, tiredness etc.

Triggers- winter, cold drink, citric fruit, lying down posture, exposure to dust, smoke etc. are the aggravating factors for asthmatic attack.

Tip-Avoid taking cold drink grapes and orange.

While lying down keep the head slight higher than the body.

6. Sun allergy- Do you get darkness of skin (tanning), itching and swelling in patches (urticaria), rash on skin with or without itching. Skin rash coming in stripes or patches like coins. You go on itching and itching. It feels good to scratch. Then is followed by bleeding? Sometimes they vanish automatically. Do these occur after you are exposed to sun light even for few minutes? All these complaints come under one umbrella of sun allergy.

Ointments or external applications can’t bring lasting effect. They often suppress the complaints and give rise to more vigorous internal complaints. SPF (sun protection formula) lotion also fails to bring a permanent relief.

Tip-Cover the exposed part of your skin with white cloth which absorbs the heat efficiently.

7. eczema- Itching mostly around joints, in the skin folds like elbows, underarms, under breasts, thigh folds. Severe itching found often associated. Oozing of watery or sticky fluid from the eruption. Whichever body part is contacted with that fluid, new eruption appears. Peeling of skin from the dried eruption.

8. Acne/pimples- It is the inflammation of the sweat glands or sebaceous glands situated underneath the skin.

Cause-It may be genetic, hormonal, and wrong in diet or regimen, oily skin texture, dandruff etc.

Genetic and hormonal acne are usually painful, large, red (acne rosacea) in colour with whitish tip.

Pimples because of dandruff are usually small, multiple, present in forehead, cheek and arms like prickly heat; these are followed by dark blackish (blemishes) patches on skin.

9. Warts- It is caused by a virus called HPV (Human Papiloma Virus). It is seen as a genetic disorder also. Most of the people mention the presence of the same kind of warts in father or mother.

Warts may come in single or groups. Single ones may be flat type or cauliflower type etc. Warts coming in groups usually found around the neck, under arms and around genitalia.

Warts are treated the best in homoeopathy. No ligation, no cauterisation, no burning, no external application but only internal medicine is used. By homoeopathic medicine not only the existing warts disappear but also the tendency to form new ones is eradicated.

Caution- warts are because of internal cause. So external removal is not the permanent solution. Rather external removal gives rise to more injurious internal disorders.

10. Detergent/ornamental allergy –After washing clothes with detergent skin of the hand peel off. Skin surrounding the nail exfoliated causing the nail bed painful. Without washing machine you are bound to bear with the dirty cloths only! Nothing to be sad about. Homoeopathy has got cure for it.

Are you scarred of using ornaments, jewelleries? Having blessed by laxmi you are still not able to enjoy your gold! As soon as you use a ring the surrounding area around the finger start itching and eruption develop. After few days of wearing a necklace you find blakish tanning around the neck!

Many take these symptoms granted through out the life but trust me, try homoeopathy for once and get rid of these complaints for ever.

CURE- Lasting cure is effective with ‘constitutional homoeopathic treatment’(CHT).

Unique features of CHT-

1. Free from side effect.

2. Cost effective-It does not drain out your pocket. Even the poorest can afford it.

3. It not only removes present complaints but also prevents recurrence.

4. Method of treatment is mild, gentle, painless and lasting.

It is safe to use for all age groups starting from infants to elderly people as well as during pregnancy.

How allergy develops?

For every plant to grow 2 things are needed. (i) SEED and (ii) SOIL

Similarly for every disease to happen 2 things are needed. (I) the genetic tendency and (ii) wrong diet and mode of living.

The 1st point can be ascertained by family medical history and 2nd point from the patient himself. If anybody in your family (blood relations) is having allergy then genetically you also have the tendency to be affected by that disease. Later on when your body immunity goes down because of excessive physical or mental stress then that tendency develops into symptoms of allergy. Thus CHT considers the entire constitution of the patient and then constitutional medicines (3 types-antipsoric, antisyphilitic, antisycotic) are given as per the indication.

Ovarian Cysts during Pregnancy – The Important Treatment information that you need to Know

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

Are you the unfortunate individual who, while pregnant, believes that you are suffering from ovarian cysts?   Besides the normal physical toll placed on your body while carrying the fetus, an ovarian cyst(s) only adds to the discomfort and pain.  You seek relief from the discomfort.  You also may be concerned with how this condition will affect the birthing process.  With regards to ovarian cysts during pregnancy, there is important information about what is available in treatment.

First of all, it is not uncommon for women to have ovarian cysts while pregnant.  In order to confirm the presence of a cyst, your doctor will perform an ultrasound.  This procedure allows the physician to look at the size and shape of the cyst.  The good news concerning ovarian cysts, are two-fold.  First, most cysts statistically are found to be benign, (or non-cancerous).  Secondly, most cysts dissolve naturally on their own without surgical intervention.  Still, an ovarian cyst can be quite painful, which is not good for both the mother and her fetus.

The traditional methods involving treatment for ovarian cysts have involved either prescription medication, or a surgical procedure known as a laparoscopy.  If you are pregnant and have been diagnosed with an ovarian cyst, naturally your doctor would not prescribe medication, (usually hormonal or birth control pills).  As an alternative cure, your doctor may then suggest the laparoscopy.  This procedure involves an incision made on your naval.  From there, a small instrument is inserted into the incision to remove the cyst.  You may be asking how late in the birthing process can this procedure be performed without endangering the fetus, or mother.  Some doctors believe that it would be okay to perform this operation during the 2nd trimester in the woman’s birthing process.

Regarding this surgical procedure however, lately many women are opting not to have this invasive procedure performed.  Who can blame them?  The stress placed on both the individual and fetus during the procedure could result in medical complications.  Besides, while the cyst would be removed through this procedure, there can be no guarantee that another cyst would not re-develop in the woman’s ovaries at any future point.  So, what is the best solution to this problem, you may be asking?

Lately, many pregnant women who have developed cysts in their ovaries are turning to natural treatment procedures to eliminate this condition.  Not only are these natural (or holistic) cures proven to be highly successful at dissolving cysts.  But, as opposed to the traditional methods involving either surgery or a long term reliance on medication, these natural cures have statistically proven to be better at preventing cysts from recurring.

Reducing bladder pressure and increasing the amount of fiber in one’s diet are two natural treatment methods that have proven to be successful in dissolving ovarian cysts.  Drink at least 8 full glasses of purified or filtered water to flush out the toxins, (or bad chemicals) present within the body.  Drink warm herbal tea, as the ingredients in this drink contain plenty of anti-oxidants.  This will also flush out the toxins in one’s system.  Quality herbal tea has also been proven to relax both the mind and body.

A diet high in fiber helps the body’s digestive process.  Fiber can be found in many quality breakfast cereals, in granola bars, beans, leafy vegetables, and in many fresh fruits.  Within your everyday diet, you should seriously consider cutting back on fat, sodium, and sugar anyway.  The chemical content in these ingredients are filled with bad chemicals, essentially poisonous to one’s body.  Think of not only your health, but the health of the child that you are carrying whenever you put food into your mouth.

Regarding ovarian cysts while pregnant, reducing the level of stress should be emphasized in your daily life.  Consider taking a long, warm, soothing bath to relax your mind and to help relieve the pain that comes with the presence of a cyst.  Get involved with relaxation exercises or meditation to relieve your mind and body as well.  Now that you have read this article, I am sure that you want more information.  Please visit this site: http://curesforovariancyst57.info to find out more about what you can do.  There are treatment plans available if you are pregnant and are suffer from the condition in having cyst(s) present in your ovaries.

Herbal Treatment for Women’s Problems

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

The female reproductive system consists of the external and internal genital organs. Breast disorders may be noncancerous (benign) or cancerous (malignant). Most are noncancerous and not life threatening. Often, they do not require treatment. In contrast, breast cancer can mean loss of a breast or of life.

Thus, for many women, breast cancer is their worst fear. However, potential problems can be detected early when women regularly examine their breasts themselves and have mammograms.

Symptoms

Common symptoms include breast pain, lumps, and a discharge from the nipple. Breast symptoms do not necessarily mean that a woman has breast cancer or another serious disorder. However, if a woman has any of the following symptoms, she should see her doctor:

A lump that feels distinctly different from other breast tissue or that does not go away

swelling that does not go away

puckering or dimpling in the skin of the breast

scaly skin around the nipple

changes in the shape of the breast

changes in the nipple, such as turning inward

Discharge from the nipple, especially if it is bloody.

Herbal Treatment

Apply a warm compress for 15-20 minutes on your breast, by using a heated towel or a heating pad to get relief from breast tenderness. This problem occurs mainly before, after or during your monthly period. For such times you can use a cold compress with the help of ice packs or frozen packets of fruits and vegetables wrapped in towel.

Sometimes not wearing bar can be a good enough reason for breast pain. Wear bras that support your breasts. See to it that the bras are well-padded if you are wearing an under-wired bra. If nothing works try a sports bra.

Soya products contain isoflavones which lessen breast tenderness. Include soy food such as soybeans, soy milk, soy burgers and other soy products in your diet. Cutting down on your salt intake will help reduce water retention which in turn relieves pain. Avoid caffeine in any form as it contains methylxanthine that stimulates breast tissue and causes pain.

Food: sensitivity or allergy can disrupt hormone balance, and it may be that either eliminating certain culprit foods, or increasing your nutrition to make up for deficiencies causing allergies, or both, will help the body to regain its balance.

Aromatic seeds, such as anise, cumin, fennel, caraway, coriander, and dill increase milk production and tone the digestive system. Their powers are carried through the breast milk, curtailing colic and indigestion. To brew, simply put a heaping spoonful of dried seeds in a cup and fill to the top with boiling water. Let steep for 5-10 minutes. Drink warm with honey. Up to two quarts a day can be consumed.

Avoid soap, cologne, deodorant and powder on your nipples or breasts. Do not wash nipples with soap. Soap predisposes the nipples to chapping and cracking.

Nourishing herbs, such as raspberry leaves, stinging nettle, oatstraw, and red clover blossoms – prepared as strong infusions*, not taken in pills, capsules, tinctures, or teas – not only encourage a plentiful supply of breast milk, they support the overall health of mother and child. The minerals in these herbs are amazingly abundant, so they counter mineral loss from nursing, and help keep mom calm and alert during those first few weeks of round-the-clock infant care.
