Saturday, July 31st, 2010

and never sees her grandkids? She is perfectly capable of driving, calling, etc…and goes to other family gatherings…but likes to blame me for not seeing her grandkids. I have never kept them from her. I am so angry…my kids are growing up…one just left for college, others are getting up there…they aren’t toddlers anymore. This really hurts. She will never help herself, we all know that…she just wants pity I can’t give.

President Obama Holds a Health Care Town Hall in Montana

We have an agreement from the drug companies, who violently opposed reform in the past, to make prescription drugs more affordable for seniors. The AARP supports this policy, and agrees with us that reform must happen this year. But because we’re getting close, the fight is getting fierce. And the history is clear: …

) hangs heavy over Jay-Zs 11th album, The Blueprint 3. A return to The Blueprint brand is supposed to signal a recommitment by Jay-Z to the street-wise but pop-friendly auspices of the first two Blueprint albums. Luxury Family Holidays in Cape Town

Saturday, January 9th, 2010

Cape Town is the ideal destination for a luxury family holiday. Offering some of the world’s top tourist attractions, leading beaches and a plethora of family activities, it’s a great choice for a family-orientated holiday.

If you’re seeking an opulent holiday in the Mother City, one of the most important aspects to consider is your accommodation. There are few things more blissful than relaxing in a 5-star hotel; enjoying the latest amenities, relaxing beside a sparkling pool, and indulging in luxury spa treatments. Best of all, some of the luxury hotels in the city offer babysitting services, which means that when you want to spend a quiet night out on the town, or simply need a bit of a break, trained staff will be on hand to take care of your kids.

Cape Town is, however, an exceptionally family-friendly city, and most of the region’s top attractions are those that cater to all ages. It’s one of the things that make luxury family holidays in Cape Town so appealing. Whether you choose to spend your holiday at the beach, in the city, or exploring the Cape’s world-famous tourist attractions, you’ll find family-friendly activities almost everywhere you go.

Best activities for luxury family holidays in Cape Town
Cape Town is a city that lends itself to luxury holiday pursuits for families. From its fine beaches to its theme parks, museums, craft markets and natural attractions, there are plenty of holiday activities for all ages.

The activities you choose for your luxury family holiday in Cape Town will often depend upon the time of year you choose to visit the city. During the summer, the most obvious choice is to spend time at the beach. And these aren’t just any old beaches! A number of Cape Town’s beaches have been awarded prestigious Blue Flag status, and most of the city’s beaches offer long stretches of soft white sand, where families can spend hours building sandcastles, playing games and enjoying picnics. There’s also plenty of opportunity for surfing, body-boarding and a variety of other water sports.

Throughout the year, the natural attractions of Cape Point Nature Reserve, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens and Chapman’s Peak offer spectacular walking, hiking and photographic opportunities. Discover the fynbos at Cape Point, the indigenous plants and flowers at Kirstenbosch, and the magnificent views of the ocean from Chapman’s Peak.

Whichever time of year you come to the Cape, you simply have to visit Table Mountain. The cable car operates year round, weather-permitting, and transports you to the top of the mountain in 10-15 minutes. An adored attraction amongst kids and adults alike, the whole family will be enchanted by the experience, which offers exceptional views of the city, and of course, the novelty of travelling in one of only three cable cars in the world.

Another great family activity, especially during the spring and autumn months, is to venture to Spier wine estate in Stellenbosch. At this beautiful estate, there’s something for the whole family: Wine tastings for the adults, horse-riding and pony-and-cart rides for kids, and lakeside picnics for the whole family. There’s also the well-known Cheetah Outreach programme, where kids can touch the cheetahs, and the Eagle Encounters raptor rehabilitation centre, where birds of prey are rehabilitated and released back into the wild. Flying displays take place daily.

The V&A Waterfront is a fantastic family destination in the Mother City. Apart from the world-class shopping and dining for which it is renowned, the V&A also offers plenty of family activities too. Boat rides, trips to Seal Island, and the spectacular Two Oceans Aquarium appeal to kids of all ages. You can also take a ferry to Robben Island, the infamous site of Nelson Mandela’s 27-year imprisonment. The Waterfront, as it’s known among locals, is also the ideal place for traditional fish-and-chips beside the harbour, and ice-creams in the sun. Some luxury hotels in Cape Town offer free transfers to the Waterfront.

Choosing a hotel for luxury family holidays in Cape Town
It’s important to choose the right hotel for your luxury family holiday in Cape Town. Some hotels don’t accommodate children, whilst others don’t offer babysitting services or children’s activities. Be sure to choose a venue that will accommodate your kids, and make it relaxing and luxurious for you to enjoy a holiday with the whole family.
