What to do about a relative who does ID Theft?

Wednesday, August 24th, 2011

Ok, my “real” mother commits id theft on a regular basis. Now I know she does this for a fact, she’s stolen my identity once and has several ssn’s and names she uses. She also is a big drug addict and also abuses the welfare system. I want to know how can I go about turning her over to the police. She also owes back child support as well to me (well my dad) that she never paid. Its like 8-10 years worth. How can I go about getting something done for that? I’m still in school, i’m 24.

Is it proper to ask a relative about a suspected relapse?

Monday, March 21st, 2011

My mother-in-law is a prescription drug addict. She went into rehab about a year and a half ago, and refused to continue with a program after she got out. There’s a great deal of denial in my husband’s family. They make a lot of excuses for her drug use related to a “need” for the prescriptions.

I am pregnant, and am afraid to allow her around the baby if she’s using. She becomes very irresponsible, emotionally abusive, and clumsy when she’s high. I think she’s relapsed and is using again.

What is considered the proper thing to do if you think your relative has relapsed? I am obviously concerned for her, but I am also concerned for my own family if we interact with her while she’s high. What do I do if I suspect she’s high and I’m uncomfortable having her around my baby? Do I confront her? Ask her about her sobriety? I certainly don’t want to ignore a potentially dangerous or upsetting situation.

if a relative addicted to drugs apprently was in my car and went through a sack of papers & now has my address

Saturday, September 11th, 2010

and had in the past broken into multiple homes and stolen property and identity, I am scared he will steal my stuff as he steals from relatives. I feel vulnerable now and frightens. I am considering turning the break in in but he has multiple times threatened to kill everyone with guns he is obsessed with and all are terrified..noone does anything but occasionally turns it in..he takes off if he sees police so likely a restraining order won’t help –plus if I do that and he does not have my address that will give it to him..I am scared he will steals everything and too poor to replace as disabled. I am scared to leave the house right now..and regret going to my mom..she is dying though and I need to but this creep keeps hanging around her house. He broke in my shed on my mom’s property dozens of times and sold stuff and stole a credit card and charged $1000 before I found out and he will destroy my credit..he breakin houses and steals identities for drugs and being family no deterrant
what can I do..what would you do..since he is homeless, he is hard to serve and catch..plus vindictive maybe and dangerous..
