How can I get my mom to stop this?? She has alcohol problems and she acts as if she’s 16 when in fact she’s 44?

Wednesday, December 29th, 2010

My mom has many problems. One of them is alcoholism. But by far, the biggest is her immaturity. And the fact that she doesn’t have a single friend. Her only friend is her niece, and she’s 23 years younger than her! I’m pretty sure that’s what leads her to acting that way… Every time I or my brother have a friend over, she acts as if they’re her friends.. Like when she sees them, she says “what’s up man” or something like that and gives them a high-five. I mean, wth! Who even gives high-fives to great each other! I don’t know if she thinks that’s cool or not, but really, it’s not! Along those lines, every time we have friends over (i’m 16 and my brother is just about to turn 15), she always hangs around us and try to get into our conversations… And the worst part is probably that our friends don’t even seem to mind! They just act as if she was part of us! And even when our friends aern’t over, she still acts the same! She’s always getting drunk and asking us to get drunk with her (yeah. i know). Good thing that i’m mature enough to understand that this is not the way things should be! I mean, is it normal that a 16 year old teen is the most mature person in the household (My parents are split)? And another thing… When her boyfriend comes over (like today), they always do “it”, and when they do, they moan very loudly and me and my brother hear it all the time… How gross can she be! She’s our mom for god’s sake! Sex doesn’t usually gross me out… But my mom doing it?? I mean, I know she does, but do I really have to hear her do it? And on my 16th birthday.. Oh boy that wasn’t pretty… Me and some friends decided to have a couple of beers while playing poker… Well some of us drank a bit too much. Well my mom thought that she should too. So she got drunk. ON MY 16TH BIRTHDAY PARTY. Another thing, she uses my F’ing camera to take pictures of herself half naked! WTF MAN!! She’s my mom, I don’t wanna see that! So that’s basicaly it… Is there anything I could do to make her stop?
I know’s it’s a bit long.. lol…

I have problems with my in laws?

Wednesday, December 1st, 2010

My husband and I have been married for 11 years (and together for 19). Just over two years we split up for a year after he hit rock bottom and ended up in rehab for alcoholism. His mother, brother, and sister all blamed me for this. Which I KNOW is untrue.

So we are back together and doing really well for all that has happened, he attends meetings, and we have done a lot of work on effectively communicating. His family however has not accepted our reunion…. Last year I wasn’t invited for the traditional holiday gathering, it was very hurtful, his Mom said “it was too soon.” I was not acknowledged at all even though all of the gifts were jointly given. My husband went without me, but of course felt bad about it and vowed not to do it again, we learned with counseling that we are a team.

So a year has gone by and we are still on this island away from his family. He feels that if he goes for Christmas then I should go too, but does he ask permission?

Frankly, I am angry that the power is in their hands, whether to accept me or not.

I also feel it is unfair that I would have to face the entire “den of wolves” in one shot, I am actually afraid that I would be very cold because of a need to protect myself emotionally. I am just not sure I am a big enough person. I feel betrayed by them.

To top things off, my Mom died this spring, so I am anticipating the holidays to be hard enough.

I am at a loss. I do truly believe family is important, and want for him to be able to be with them on the holidays, especially the kids. Should I encourage him to go on his own?

How many children do you think in alcoholic homes have problems when they grow up?

Thursday, November 4th, 2010

Recently two teens have been accused of murdering one of their moms. The boy (he is 18) and the girl (her mom) (she is 15 or 16) were living in the home with her mother, a chronic alcoholic.
What do you think about the terror that goes on if someone is
drinking since you were born. I think this is such an important factor in the entire situation since the girl has been asking for help all of her life, and now admits she has the same illiness.
I am not condoning the murder, just wondering if any of you have grown up with alcohol and can you tell me how bad it gets?

Help me! (Alcoholism, Relationship problems, extreme anxiety)?

Friday, October 8th, 2010

I have a panic disorder and a psychotic disorder. My mother is drinking herself to death and my father is going senile. I have a supportive by very pushy girlfriend. What can I do with my mother? She will not go into treatment and right now she’s laying in her chair drunk and vomiting. My father can do nothing but help as much as he can. My girlfriend is good to me but she pushes me to get off of my medication and pushes me into extremely uncomfortable situations in order to try to break my illness.
Right now I’m getting a cold and I am freaking out. I have no health insurance and my medication is running out. Please help me. I’d commit suicide if it weren’t for my girlfriend and my own fear of death.

The twist is that I’m 20, my grandparents adopted me and my real mother just moved out(she doesn’t drink but is very ill with depression). Now no one can take care of my while my adopted parents suffer. I just want to die, there’s no one I can turn to. I don’t know how to live a normal life like everyone else. please help me.

What are my problems after been taking off my alcoholic mother?

Sunday, October 3rd, 2010

Hello, I’m 16. I went through a hell of a lot when I was a kid. My mother and aunt were alcoholics. My aunt died from it. I moved away. My father ditched me, so I live with my granny.
Now,
I can’t focus on most things because my mind wanders and I daydream when someone is telling me a story or something. I always get distracted by noises, my mind always gets focused on the noise that distracts me then starts to irritate me sometimes. I walk out places and can’t remember what was said.
I cry and almost everything. I have sad feelings and feelings of not wanting to be here anymore. I constantly worry about things that bother me or when someone is nasty to me I get butterflies and continue to worry. I’m scared to talk to people because I’m so shy and have no confidence. I keep to myself alot also.
My mind goes blank and ‘zones’ out most times when people talk.
Things like this. What is this? I really need help before I got nuts. Please don’t tell me to go to a doctor. I just wanted other opinions.

Thank you:)

How do you help a sibling with drug/alcohol problems but could also have antisocial personality disorder?

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

My younger brother is 20. He has been in rehab twice for drug/alcohol problems. At one point he was taking 30+ Xanax ‘bars’ a day until we got him into a program and detoxed.

Every time he gets out of rehab, he eventually goes out and gets his ‘fix’ again and gets hooked.

He even moved 2,000 miles away for a while to live with my Mother in CA. He did not know a soul there and still managed to find dope.

I think the reason he has such a hard time giving everything up is because he also has antisocial personality disorder. He seems to have no regard for other people’s feelings. He is very impulsive and a terrific liar and con. He plays on our (his family’s) emotions because he knows we want him to get help and always want to believe he is getting better….and then he will steal from us right under our nose.

I have been reading about antisocial personality disorder and know that the treatment of the disorder must be done first. He needs real behavior modification therapy to improve decision making skills. He could also use a mood stabilizer to help manage anger issues.

I guess what I would like to know is….how do you talk to someone about this disorder who has such blatant disregard for other people’s rights/feelings and even his own well being? How do you talk to someone who is virtually impossible to communicate with? How do you talk to someone who only indulges in conversation when there is some hidden motive to get something he wants?

How do you make someone realize the need for therapy?

Mother alcoholic problems?

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

For as long as I can remember, my mother and I have not been close. Since I was born, to when I was about the age of 14 she would always relapse, and sometimes we would have light physical fights. I would always have to stay with my grandparents, I would even have to change schools periodically, and leave all my friends, and become secluded while she would drink. Then, when she would want “help”, I would always have to take care of her, empty out her puke buckets, feed her, ect. I even remember when I was about 9, for about two weeks I took care of her by myself, I mean I was so young, I didn’t know what was wrong with her. We have had a few boyfriends move in with us, but I mean she always changes when a new one comes along, and she acts fake, and anytime we fight, she always acts like the victim.

I mean she has been a year and a half solber now, but the pain I endured from my childhood is not going away, and she can’t understand why I cannot get over it. She says that emoitonal pain is mine now, and I have to deal with it myself. I do not think its fair to say that when she caused me deep pain, for years on end, and she just expects when she is clean, for me to just deal with it. It makes me feel like since she is okay now, then all of my pain is just my problem, not hers. Like she just forgot about it, and now for the rest of my life, I have to deal with it.

Sure, she takes me to therapy, and gives me the essentials, and ect. But, I just don’t think I can forgive her, I mean its not like I can forgive her. She shouldn’t have drank, I mean sure, she has her everyday stresses about life, and other alcoholics do, but they went through it all, without drinking.

I mean, I am an alcoholic also, but she acts like my disease affects her more, and she makes it about her. She always has to be the victim, which I never understood.

So my question is, what should I do?
Should I just avoid this pain, that I have endured for a good part of my life, or should I move on, and forget about her?

Please help me.

(I am almost sixteen by the way)
I am not too young to be an alcoholic.

Wednesday, August 4th, 2010

My mom has a history of drug addiction but has gone through rehab and has been of probation for about six months. My father moved out of state and cannot return because he is remarried. Do you think the judge will give custody to my mother even though her past is not the greatest? This is in the state of texas by the way. Thanks!

If the baby’s father is a drug and alcohol user could the baby have problems?

Monday, May 17th, 2010

I was just wondering because some people have told me that yes even if the mother did not use drugs or alcohol but the father did the baby can still have major problems and even possibly be addicted as well.

I am not trying to get pregnant. But I was just wondering if this is true or not. Because my boyfriend does weed, and other drugs so I was just wondering.

THX.

What are Main Reasons for Not Getting Pregnant? 7 Common Problems for Not Getting Pregnant

Sunday, January 24th, 2010

The frustration and unease a woman faces when she is not getting pregnant can be easily understood by anyone. It is very hard for any woman to go through this situation. They live in depression and many of them do not share their inner feelings with others that make them sad.  There are millions of women who face trouble getting pregnant after trying much effort.

There are many different reasons that are responsible for this condition in a woman.

7 common problems for not getting pregnant

1. Overall Health – The overall health and physical condition are very important for a woman who wants to get pregnant. Many women are overweight and they do not eat the right amount of nutrition in their diet that is vital for conception. You need to eat a good healthy diet like whole grains, fruits, vegetables, nuts etc. Keep your weight in ideal proportion and eat healthy, it will help for regular menstrual cycles that are required for ovulation and conception.

2. Ovulation Time – Another thing that creates trouble getting pregnant is having intercourse at the time when you are not ovulating. If you take time to learning about your ovulation cycles, then it will help you decide perfect time for intercourse. You can use an Ovulation Kit or Basal body temperature that will help you determine your ovulation time, so that you can plan intercourse.

3. Stress – A lot of women put stress on their mind and body. They keep worrying about their situation and that result in depression sometime. And, when there is too much stress, it leads to affect many things like the menstrual and ovulation cycles. So, do not worry as that is not a solution. Always think positive and be happy.

4. Addiction – A lot of women drink and smoke. Expecting pregnancy with these things is really like praying for something impossible. Alcohol and tobacco makes the situation worse for a woman who wants to get pregnant. So, stay away from these things if you really want to get pregnancy.

5. PCOS – Polycystic Ovary Syndrome is an endocrine disorder. Nearly 5% of all women are affected of it. I can affect a woman during their reproductive age of 12-45years old. It is one of the major infertility causes. So, visit a Doctor and determine if you may have PCOS.

6. Partner – Many women do not know that there may also be something wrong with their male partner. Your partner may be affected with low sperm count that creates problems for you to get pregnant. Ask him to see a Doctor.

7. Caffeine – You may not know that even caffeine is an element that can affect your fertility to some extent. Coffee and chocolate are two common sources of this element. If you cannot leave drinking coffee, then try to reduce the number of cups you drink daily.

So, there were the common problems that create barriers for you to become a mother. Natural ways are best and effective treatment of infertility causes by any reasons given above.
