Can someone be held accountable for someone else’s suicide by making pills available to them?
Sunday, June 19th, 2011My father committed suicide. We are all having a hard time with this because that just wasn’t the type of person he was. Our uncle had come for a visit and he had Valium on him. He knew my father was a cross-addicted alcoholic and still did not do what my mother had asked him which was to keep the pills away from him. My father never knew what valium was going to do to him so when he stole them from my uncle, he just wanted the high and when it didn’t come fast enough, he took the whole bottle. He tried to apologize to my uncle for stealing them once my uncle found out and my uncle became very irrational and yelling at my dad. Which then resulted in my father finding a rifle in the basement and committing suicide.
Our family can not rest knowing my father’s death certificate is going to say suicide. Is this considered negligent homicide or involuntary manslaughter?
