How can you have someone committed to a mental institution?

Saturday, June 4th, 2011

My brother is 50 years old and a drug addict. He lives off my 67 year old mother. He has had heart attacks and strokes but continues to do drugs daily. How can I have him committed to a drug treatment center or better yet a mental health institution because he is mental and he has no control over his life or his addictions. I live in Ohio. Serious answers only please.

What is the best drug rehab institution in Beaver Falls, PA?

Wednesday, November 24th, 2010

My father has been using meth for years now. My mom divorced him because of his addiction. I swear, my dad is a good father and the only problem that I can see in him is his substance abuse. I know he loves us dearly but he can’t improve his condition all by himself. I hope you can help me locate the best drug rehab here in our place. Thank you.

Can my brother send his son home with my father (mother is in a mental institution)?

Tuesday, August 17th, 2010

Mother is in a mental institution for a five-day evaluation. According to my mother, my brother informed her of his intention to send the baby home to be taken care of by my father, my husband and I and my mother while he is working (he’s a Coast Guard and has to be on the boat).

It has already been established by my brother and my father upon his arrival that the mother (19 years old, diagnosed with depression with suicidal tendencies and alcoholism, who has been hanging with people affiliated with gang members and my brother thinks she may have joined because is wearing their colors) is unstable and unfit to care for the child.

My brother also caught his wife cheating after coming home a day early from the boat.

She drinks Hennesey straight out the bottle and uses marijuana (we fear she may be on other drugs because she weighs about 85lbs – was always slim but now it’s very gaunt)

Question: Legally, can my brother send the baby to Michigan from Missouri?
