When I was growing up my mother restricted all junk food up until I was in school. I just remember not being able to have any sort of sweets like juice, cookies, candies you name it. I knew all kids were having it but I wasnt allowed to. At one point when she gave me juice she would mix so much water in there that you can barely even taste sugar. From young I became food obsessed. When I entered junior high, I went nuts. I ate everything and anything. My mom had no control over it what so ever because i was at school or playing with friends after school. In high school I experienced major eating disorder. I was binge eater. Since that point on i battled with my weight issue. I dont want to blame my mother for doing what she thought it was best for me. But i feel that she went some what overboard.

I promised myself that my daughter wont have to stand where I did growing up. No matter how much i want to try to give her what I didnt have young i just cant. I must say that I have became a health freak my own mother. As much as I dont want to I just cant control myself from being so stricted.

What really is the right boundary??

I called county social services but unless I was a police code 5150, there didn’t seem to be any social services counseling. Instead the primary chunk of social services seemed geared only towards mothers with children, children themselves, the chronically homeless, addicts, or the elderly.

Is it a mistake for childless adult males, who aren’t suicidal but need mental health counseling, to seek county services?

“The 18-year-old who was allegedly high on Oxycontin and Xanax when she drove a passenger van into a Hempstead, Long Island home, fatally striking the home’s owner, was hysterical when taken out of the police station yesterday. Kayla Gerdes screamed to reporters, “No, I didn’t [purposely aim for her.] Listen, stop — listen, it was an accident!

Gerdes’s lawyer said that the teen was released early from a 28-day drug rehabilitation program, because her mother’s insurance would only cover seven days.”

Obviously, if this girl were still in rehab, this death would not have happened. Thoughts?

I have lupus, bipolar, alcoholism, ibs, several food allergies, extremely sensitive skin and i’m basically a trainwreck of a person. My mother did not smoke with my sister. She has a perfect immune system, no sign of mental illness, she digests food just fine, has no food allergies, perfect skin, and is doing well in life.
I understand that some things just happen, but is there a possibility? and what if she drank during her pregnancy? just curious. she didn’t i’m almost positive she didn’t, but in case.

Me: Eating Disorders like Bulimia or Binge. I had two aunts including my grandmother who had binge eating disorder. My mom, my older sister, myself and some of our cousins have struggled with bulimia. We’ve gotten help for it, it’s not that easy to control.

Vogue, yes I have lost weight. I am 5’5. I was 130pds 2 years ago. I am still 5’5 115pds. At one point inbetween I was 103pds.

She had a subdural hematoma and swelling requiring surgical intervention. At the time, she was also suffering from pneumonia plus COPD, alcoholism and taking blood thinners. After her surgery, we were told she would never wake up and die from infection. She woke up and began a month later giving 1 word responses and short phrases. She began physical therapy and speech therapy, but never regained use of her limbs (has catheter & feeding tube). A month ago she contracted a bacterial lung infection and was hospitalized. The lung infection improved after 2 weeks, but she quit being verbal. The doctor had an MRI and CT scan done, but they showed no changes. She was returned to the nursing home on last Thursday and began verbally responding but the next day she appeared weak. The nursing home called very early the past 2 a.m. and asked family to come because her breath was labored but she then improved. Any ideas on this?

It has only been getting worse. I am now 20. She has lost her job, been on unemployment for almost a year and is about to run out of benefits.
She got evicted from her home, moved in with her ex boyfriend who was (and still is) very abusive and also unemployed. They are now getting evicted from their trailer.
She has nowhere to go but cross country with her parents. She drinks anywhere from 15-30 beers a day, whole bottles of wine from time to time, and is becoming dependent on sleeping pills.
She refuses help and refuses to see a doctor, even though she will sometimes vomit blood. She now wakes up in the morning with the shakes, and is starting to see that drinking is a problem, but will refuse any help.
I need some sort of resources. I live in the Dallas, Tx area. I have nobody to talk to about this and don’t know what there is to do. No insurance, no money. She will not go on her own, an intervention may be necessary. If there is any way for me to sign her in, I will do it. She NEEDS help, and I need help dealing with this. I can’t keep watching my mother die, it is putting too much pressure on me. It is tearing me apart.
She is a wonderful, beautiful, caring person and I would not be where I am if it was not for her. There is nobody else she talks to or relies on but me. I am her only friend.
Please tell me what I can do.

She will not pay utilities or rent. She never stayes in a house more than 5 months because she almost immediately stops paying the rent. She lives with people in the neighborhood often until she is made to leave. Her health is poor. She often makes up stories in order to get the attention. She is currently living in a rooming house. Her grands love to see her but I can’t have my children in that type of environment. I have 4 siblings who don’t seem to care. I just want my mom to have a clean apartment and food to eat with all of her utilities on. With her last apartment her boss was paying her rent and giving her the difference out of her check, but I don’t know what happened. I can’t afford to take care of her but with her working she can afford a one bedroom apt. on her own.
