My step kids mom is a coke addicted useless bartender. She is not financially responsible for these kids. She gets them on the weekends. She beats her other smaller kids as does her husband. She left coke straws where her stepdaughters baby could find one and play with it. Her kids have found drugs in her purse and in her laundry. She doesnt spend time with them doing anything for them. She doesnt read to them, help them with homework, have rules, or anything. The twins are like 9 now and already have had police called on them and are dysfunctional at best. Why is it then that my step son in particular sticks up for her? She doesnt do anything to help us out, nothing for anyone but herself. WTF!!! I pray daily that she would overdose and do the world a favor.

i dont hear from her for 2 months sometimes…when i get a call from my mom or someone i think they are calling me 2 tell me she is dead..she has all types of trouble with the law and all types of trouble with people….i talked to her last night and she really wants help and i want to help her..do anyone know of a free drug treatment facility preferably down south alabama,mississippi,or louisiana area or someone she can call

during the 8th month of her pregnancy, do you believe that intercessory prayer will reverse the damage the mother had done to her unborn child? Woah there Nelly, I didn’t say or imply abortion at 8 months, that is murder, a child is viable after 5 months, I’m talking about abortion after the first missed period, like 8 weeks to 10 weeks.

How freaking crazy has this world became? Children are already coming out of the womb addicted to drugs, then horrible parents do drugs, have it available for babies to eat??!?!?! I have a 2 and 4 yr old and fear giving them cough meds…geeeeezzz…….

My father recently died and he is now living with us. I am living with my mom to take care of her.. He eats, sleeps, and takes her money does not nothing around the house or offer any money for bills. She thinks she is just helping him. He tells her he needs the money for child support.

Her car was giving her trouble for about a month before it finally died (I bought her the car because she did not have one). Now she need wants me to transport her to and from work every day, but I feel like she should have been saving instead of spending her money on drugs and alcohol. I feel robbed to have to step in and bail her out. She has no bills at all. I am single, with 4 kids, I am unemployed. I asked her to help me with gas, she still would not commit to recompense me. Is it my responsibility to be her taxi until she gets the car out of the shop, in light of all this mess?

Help, please. Is this a case for tough love?????

the farther is also a drug user with previous drug convictions. and the mother lost custody of two previous children to their respective fathers
both parents are willing the baby was just born 2 days ago and hasn’t been released from the hospital

Me and my best friend have been friends since our early high school years. Around that time, she confided in me that her mom is a recovering crack addict. It was very bad and gave my friend a lot of emotional problems due to the dysfunctionality of her family. Anyway, her mom was more-or-less recovered from the addiction but relapsed once.

Anyway, her mom and my mom (who also used to be addicted to crack but has long since gave it up and is clean) recently started hanging out. My best friend moved to Chicago to go off to college so she doesn’t see her mom much anymore. My mom told me that her mom is using drugs again. She is kind of hooked on prescription pills, (xanax, etc) so I asked my mom if my friend’s mom was only on prescription pills but my mom said that she’s back on crack and that it’s pretty bad. My mom told me not to tell my best friend.

Should I tell her or not? I know it will hurt her if she finds out, but I don’t feel like I could keep that information about her own mom from her. But I did promise MY mom I wouldn’t tell. What would you do?

I’m doing a Healthy Living project for my Planning 10 class and was wondering what the differences were. I would also like to know for my own personal interest seeing as my mother is a recovering addict of a drug addiction to Crack Cociane.

My parents got divorced when I was two my father was an alchoholic who smoked marijuana he, got custody because his mother had more money. My mother recieved weekend visits. My father married a stripper she was my mother for 7 years then my father divorced her. Finally my father went to church and decided to marry my best friends mother. My sister ran away and my best friend turned in a complete concieted … nevermind. I began to slit my wrists, my father tried to whip me I wouldn’t let him and he kicked me out. I moved in with my mother who is still addicted to speed/ice. My mothers boyfriend gets busted and my mother runs to Ky with her parents because they need her to take care of her. She stopped doing the drugs but she is still a bitch from hell. I am seventeen but I am alot smarter than she knows, I have been through alot and this is driving me insane!!!!

Please do not insult my intelligence by saying that they do not. I would like to hear from a law enforcement official or from a lawyer/judge what it is about marijuana that makes it so much worse than heroine, EX, cocaine, crack, etc.

I don’t drink, no other drugs, just pot that I get from my family. I don’t harm anyone and no one gets hurt. I have no problems with my life.
My father does cocaine because drug tests don’t pick it up on urine samples. He also abuses alcohol, has saught both drug and alcohol treatment numerous times, and will likely die when his kidney/liver explode from being pushed to the brink for the last 40 years. His alcohol drove him to physically abuse my mother, mentally abuse me, and use his influence to create theatrical lies about me to the rest of my family in order to cut me out of the will; all because I would not accept his habits, and he saw it as a challenge.

I will restate the question: Why do feds grab up all the marijuana but leave the harder drugs on the streets?

As a “pothead” I am downright outraged at all these commercials about how terrible smoking cigarettes is, about how “this is your brain on drugs”, and all this other garbage… as if I needed a reminder of truly “bad influence” that federal law enforcement simply does not seem to grasp, and I am not alone.

Do your freakin job.
i hate to nag on cops though because they just do what they are told, but feds like the DEA dont answer to dirtballs like that.
Oh, really? You’re some expert, right? I already informed you of my abusive father. The life or death situations I was in as a child gave my PTSD. In many ways I was a soldier before I could even learn to formulate thoughts properly. Instead of taking some medication that will put me into a coma or kill me, I have chosen to smoke marijuana. In the long term it is also much cheaper. I have had no anxiety, and depression is much better than it was many years ago… but, with all due respect, I do not expect you to understand that in your own shoes.

I have friend on crack that has four children. The ages are 7 which are twins, 9, 15. The 15 year old is living with his father. I am so worried about the younger ones. Their mother just will not leave it alone. I used to feel sorry for her. But it has been 7 years since she started so I do not feel for her anymore. I can not have any children and when she was expecting the twins she was smoking while she was carrying them. I begged her to stop but she is selfish and does not care. Her 9 year old can tell me step by step on how to load up a crack pipe. I have called social services and they have not done anything about it. Thank God the twins was born ok. I am just to fed up. The only thing that is keeping me going in this friendship is the kids. She is so neg. and we have nothing in common except the kids. Please advise me on what to do. I am at my wits in. Should I end the friendship. I have done everything I know of. She has been on welfare for 15 years.
We have been friends ever since we was 5 years old. We are now 33.

In a nutshell, this program paid crack addict women to get long-term birth control or to get their tubes tied in order for the mom to stop having crack-addicted kids who are born with severe health problems.

Some said that they found it harsh because it targeted poor women of ‘color. (That is sad that when something like this is mentioned, the first demographic that is sited is ‘women of color’.)

What do you think of this? If a politician brought this up, would you support it?

ok well heres the problem..my mom has become addicted to crack..shes is a 47 yr old woman and she was in AA for like 7 yrs…sometime during the last 3 yrs she became addicted to pain killers(vicodins) and just about 1 month ago she started doing crack. 3 yrs ago she had a baby boy and my stepfather was deported for driving w/o a license and i dunno if that caused her to go into postpartum depression or i dont know what her problem is…i am 22 yrs old and i have a 4 yr old daughter of my own and now i am also taking care of my little brother….i feel like i am responsible enough to watch him and care for him because i live with my boyfriend and neither of us do drugs or drink and i can also support him financially …She has been in detox like 5 times and shes clean for like 3 months, but then she goes back to her old habits…its so annoying and i just cant deal with it anymore..shes too old for this crap! what can i do…would i be able to get custody of my little brother? this is DESTROYING my family…

today in class, my prof. asked us if we think crack babies really exist. Sure people raised their hands. I mean, we’ve heard the term and have been taught that these babies do in fact exist when a mother is on crack cocaine.

Crack babies have been known to be academically challenged and/or some other ways defective. But is crack really the sole root of the problem?

Consider this: A pregnant woman is on crack. Do you honestly think this crack-addicted woman is taking pre-natal vitamins and getting regular check-ups? Also, isn’t there a very big chance that this woman is also drinking alcohol and possibly smoking cigarettes. Isn’t it also possible that in her drug altered state, she is not eating properly and really just not taking care of herself at all? There is not telling what kind of activities this woman is engaging in.

So how do we know that it’s really crack that has messed up her baby? There’s no possible way to find out. We can’t get someone addicted to drugs and then do everything else the right way because of course, the drugs will just ruin all good sense in that person and the experiment will never work.

I once thought that crack babies could exist but after today, I’m not too sure.

What do you guys think of what I learned? Do you still think it’s possible after considering all the possibilities that a baby could be a crack baby?

i understand cocaine and how a person uses that, but i don’t understand crack cocaine and how a person uses it. like what they use, etc…. i need infomation asap….a concerned mother.

My mother is in a nursing home with dementia and won’t be back. My husband and I moved in with him to try and get him caught up but he is in thousands of dollars in debt. He has two pending foreclosures on the house and there is a lien on it from the state. He is telling everyone that its my fault he is losing the house when all he does is drink and do crack everyday. My husband and I both have full time jobs. Is it wrong to feel that I need to worry about where my husband and I are going and NOT my brother who could care less about us?
