Should I buy a Christmas Gift for my deceased boyfriend’s family, need ideas?

Monday, October 17th, 2011

This would be the second Christmas without him. He was murdered Sept.17,2005.His family has invited me2 share the one year anniversary of his death, his birthday and they even celebrated what would have been our one-year anniversary together. Last year I bought them a nice china tea set. I have no clue what to purchase this year, or even if I should buy them a gift. Or do u think I should just send a card?
Also, my mom and I don’t get along, she showed no support 2 me during his death instead she got high and didnt come home that night 2take me2 his funeral, and then while I was at the funeral she stole money out of my drawer at home. But last x-mas she got jealous, and called me stupid for buying them a gift, cuz my boyfriend cheated when he was alive, even though his family bought me a nice 14kt gold necklace 4 X-mas.
What do I do about my mom, and should I get his mom a gift despit my drug addict mom?

What has happened to Scooter, the pug stolen by an alcoholic and given as a Christmas present? A pug was stolen in Dallas, TX and given away as a Christmas present by a little girl’s alcoholic mother. The pug is likely out of state as suggested by the letter the thief sent the pug’s rightful owners. You can read an article about it at http://www.newschannel5.tv/2008/1/4/984729/ Does anyone know if there has been any developments in the case?

Christmas gift ideas for my Mom?

Friday, April 1st, 2011

I am very proud of what my mom has accomplished this past year, and I really want to get her something nice. She’s a recovering alcoholic, and has made huge changes in life – so I want to show her how much I care. I am 16 and my mom is 48 if it makes a difference. I do have a budget though. I can’t spend much more than like 50 bucks. Ideas?

How do I tell my dad I refuse to go on a 3 day Christmas trip to visit my sister in rehab?

Saturday, February 5th, 2011

Its not that I don’t love or respect her due to her drug problem, exactly the opposite, she is 100% clean and has the right attitude about everything, and for the first time in her 19 years on this earth, she has a purpose. Its just whenever my father, mother and I spend any period of time together, a fight erupts between either my mother and father or my father and I. I am my father’s son, I genetically gained his trait of bullheadedness, and concept of never doing or being wrong. I do possess the ability to say I’m sorry, and since I do mess up I say the words often. I’ve heard my father say them once, and that was for him not checking the credentials at the beginning of a 4 year portion of my life I was forced to see a “life coach/therapist” 3 or more times a week. Turns out she was never licensed to begin with and lied about her connection with the Cambridge Psychology Department. He was using her as an extension/replacement for his parenting but once she had already bled him of 300,000$, then he started asking questions. The apology was not for sending me to her or for her methods being so horrible (he agreed with them all along), he apologized for not knowing she was not properly licensed. BLEH, needless to say my family is fucked up. I miss my sister terribly, and I want to see my family together once again. And at the same time, I don’t want the whole family together as it, without fail, leads to strife. I recognize I’m bitter with my father, and hold a grudge for many different things, but there’s no way for me to let these things go or work on my relationship with him within the next 3 days. Any guidance is appreciated, as I acknowledge this new resource as a unique outlet to both vent and get criticism on your venting.

Drug addicted family member and Christmas?

Sunday, January 30th, 2011

My brother is a drug addict. He’s done everything drug addicts do- lies, steals, crashes with withdrawals, lashes out, mistreats people, “borrows” money, blames everyone, uses people, lives in denial, can’t keep a job, doesn’t pay bills.
He has treated my mother like dirt, doing everything to her just listed including standing outside her house screaming and cursing at her and most recently stealing Xmas gifts from her house that she bought for other people.
She has bailed him out for years — picked him up from ER, jail, court, gave him money (thousands!), paid his rent, bought food, etc. etc. etc.

I live far away so he hasn’t done anything to me personally. Although the last time I saw him (fairly recently, after not seeing him for a year) he told me to f— off.

Because of how he has treated my mom, I don’t want him around. He’s not welcome in my home or my life.
Am I right?

PS the only “help” he wants is for people to give him money, because he says he “doesn’t use drugs” and everyone is WAY out of line for even mentioning it.

It made national news and you’d think someone must have figured out who the little girl was.

Thursday, September 9th, 2010

I’m Christmas shopping for my mom. I remember her saying that she saw this show on basic cable about a professor who gets mixed up with drugs or something? I want to get her a box set DVD of the show, but I can’t for the life of me remember the name of the show. If you gave me the name I’d remember it.

It’s Christmas Time – Unwind and Rewind With Presents That Pamper

Saturday, January 23rd, 2010

Though we might all look forward to Christmas, very few of us can probably say that it is a stress-free time of the year. In principal, the idea of your entire family in the same room for a whole day, swapping unwanted Christmas presents, drinking lots of alcohol and eating all the food you spent hours preparing sounds fine; but it’s a good job there’s a week to recover in time for New Year as December can be exhausting.

Why not take a few precautions this year and treat that special someone (even if that’s you) to some Christmas presents that will help to muffle those jingle bells long enough for a bit of quiet pampering?

Whether it’s a wonderful thirty minutes of pampering for yourself, or a whole day dedicated to three different kinds of treatments, these unique and wonderful Christmas presents are a sure way to put a smile on someone’s face. From manicures, to pedicures, massages or even a little dip in a whirlpool spa; these Christmas presents can only promise a day of ultimate relaxation.

With all of those Christmas parties to attend, you’ll want to look your best, so why not treat yourself and a friend to a makeover? You could even have the perfect finished results captured on camera with a ‘Hair and Beauty Makeover and photo-shoot’ – ideal Christmas presents either for yourself or any teenagers in the family.

Fashion Photoshoot Christmas presents can be a wonderful way of reminding that special someone just how gorgeous you think they are. These are Christmas presents worthy of the supermodels with a professional consultation beforehand and the chance to select and even re-touch the finished pictures afterwards. Perhaps you know someone who needs a bit of seasonal cheer, and would love the opportunity for a completely new look for the New Year? With a ‘Star Style Transformation’, they could have just that as these Christmas presents offer a day’s pampering from a whole team of professional stylists.

If these Christmas presents sound exclusively for women, then think again. Gift Packs can make excellent Christmas presents for the man in your life too. He may well need a massage after a busy year of pampering you; and if a professional massage doesn’t sound rewarding enough, then how about a ‘City Slicker Photographic Makeover’ for that city gent in your life? You get the chance to relax and unwind too as you wait in the luxurious bar with a complimentary drink as the professionals set about turning your man into the ultimate pin-up – two Christmas presents in one!

If you or that special someone has a taste for the more unusual things in life, then why not try out some of the more unusual pampering treats this year? As far as Christmas presents go, they don’t get much more unique than a ‘Balinese Indulgence Experience’ ancient treatments that combine the scents of aromatherapy to recharge the mind, body and soul. If all that indulgence at the Christmas dinner table tends to bring out pangs of guilt, then you can start to feel better with a ‘Rasul Experience for two’. This decadent mud cleanse may have you looking like a chocolate log for a little while, but it is renowned for its deep-clean, relaxing qualities.

Christmas is a time to embrace family life and spend some quality time with the people you love the most. For any new mums, a ‘Mother and Baby Photoshoot and Pamper Day’ is a wonderful bonding opportunity. These Christmas presents are an original twist on any pampering day as mum receives some care and attention from the beauty experts, before being photographed with baby for some pictures you can look back on forever.

If the idea of a family Christmas doesn’t sound too appealing this year, then why not make a run for it and escape to a hotel with someone special? If the West End show and a hotel stay in London don’t sound quite far away enough, then you could always treat yourselves to a trip to Paris. As Christmas presents go, they don’t get much more romantic than this, and you can be certain that you’ll be getting a kiss under the mistletoe when you deliver it.

Everyone has different ways of relaxing and if you happen to know anyone who would prefer the rush of adrenaline over the quiet and calm, then there are a number of Christmas presents you could treat them to as well. From bungee jumping to rally driving, ice climbing to power-boating; the list of possible death-defying activities seems endless. Still, these Christmas presents may well seem tame in comparison to the usual Christmas family get-together but they make for truly original and exciting Christmas presents that will never be forgotten.

Christmas Gifts for Moms

Monday, January 4th, 2010

Christmas is coming soon, are you still looking for some great Christmas gift ideas for Moms? Here are some present suggestions that Mothers will love.

Moms work hard all year taking care of their families. What better time than Christmas to show a Mother how much she is appreciated. The following are some fun, cool Christmas gift ideas.

Gift Baskets for Moms

A fun gift for a Mother would be some kind of a gift basket. There are many kinds available such as candy and cookie baskets, coffee gift baskets, and cheese baskets. There are also spa baskets and candle baskets which would make a Mother feel nice and relaxed when she has some quiet time.

Spa Gift Certificate

Moms often don’t get much of a chance to relax. Consider giving a gift certificate to a spa. This will enable the Mom to take a little time to relax and feel pampered. With a gift certificate she could get a facial, enjoy a soothing massage, or pick up some of her favorite spa accessories.

Hobby Gift

If the Mom being shopped for has some kind of a favorite hobby, she probably would really enjoy something related to that hobby. For example, if she likes scrapbooking, get her some scrapbooking accessories. If she loves to cook, how about getting her a new cookbook? Does she collect anything? If so, think about getting her something to add to her collection.

Restaurant Gift Card

A wonderful way to let a Mom enjoy herself is with a gift card to her favorite restaurant. This gives her a chance to get out of the house, while enjoying a delicious meal. Whether she goes with friends or goes alone and quietly reads a book, a restaurant gift card will give her a chance for a break.

Picture Tee Shirt

Mothers love to show off their kids. What better way to do so than with a picture tee shirt. This way she can proudly wear a comfortable tee shirt with a photo of her kids on it.

Home Decor Gift

If the Mother is into home decor, one can get her a personal gift for the home. If not sure of the Mother’s taste, a gift card to a store like Pottery Barn or Crate and Barrel would allow the Mom to pick out exactly what she wants.

Music Gift Ideas for Moms

Often times Moms spend their time listening to music their kids enjoy. A gift consideration is a CD of one of the Mother’s favorite groups or artists. This way, when the kids aren’t around, she can listen to the kind of music she really likes.

DVD Photo Album for Moms

Moms will treasure up the photos taken in the past days since every photo records a good memory.Actullay, making a photo album for Moms is not so difficult.Only a computer with PowerPoint installed and some slideshow-making skills are needed.First, collect all the photos of mother and family, then make a slideshow with PowerPoint. In addtion to photos ,some warm music, family videos or the voice recorded to appriciate mother’s care and devotion can also be added. At last, burn the photo album onto DVD with Moyea PowerPoint to DVD Burner and present the DVD disc to Mom ,she will be deeply moved.Maybe she will show off this DVD on TV to her colleagues and friends or send the DVD photo album copies to others. What’s more, the slideshow can be converted to video with Leawo PowerPoint to Video to share on Youtube,Metacafe,Facebook,Myspace, blogs even mobile devices(like iPhone,iPod,Blackberry etc.),which will make mother really proud.

Gift Cards for Moms

Moms will generally appreciate any gift they are given. However, if really stuck on what to buy for a Mom, most Mothers would welcome a gift card or gift certificate to any one of many great places. The Mom could then take her time to pick out the perfect gift. Even better, if it’s hard for her to get out of the house much, she could always shop online.

When shopping for a gift for a Mom, the most important thing is to let her know the love behind the gift. Remember, too, gifts don’t have to be purchased. There are some great homemade gifts that Moms would love, also.
