My brother is in drug rehab, and his dad just served my mom with custody papers. My mom is a single parent who has paid for everything for my brother his entire life. His dad owes over 28,000 in back child support, he has no license because of it, no job and lives with his girlfriend. He has been the bad influence in my brothers life, he lies, steals and does drugs. While my mom works full time, owns her own home and doesn’t even drink. My mom tried everything to get my brother help when she first felt he was slipping. Went to therapy and probation and PINS, everything and my brother continued to lie and steal and use. His dad let him get away with all of it saying that this is all HER fault. My mom is even the one paying for rehab to keep him out of jail/foster care for violating probation. And now his dad wants to sue her for custody??? If he by some crazy way wins and she has to pay child support she will loose our house. She makes just above min wage so every penny is accounted for… So she will not only lose my brother but her liscence and her home. Where is the justice in that?

she is on medication for depression, addiction, and ADD, also i think for anxiety. and she does see a doctor a few times a month..

He arrived at our house 3 months ago from his mother’s. She sent with him Clonopin, Triazadone, Paxil and Loratab because she claimed he was having panic attack, addicted to Xanax etc. His father and I never saw these behaviors in him when he lived with us for 6 months. The mother has been continuously nasty and unbearing to us. I snapped and wrote her a letter asking her to please relinquish her own insecurities and identify with her own problems so that we could work together to help the son. She retaliated with a 5 page letter attacking me personally with half truths and downright lies. I do not care about her attack on me, I am concerned that the son will be coming out of rehab to live with us and “mom” is thoroughly not pleased with this. I would like suggestions from others on how a step-mother can best handle dealing with the step-son’s recovery while battling the control/craziness of the mother. Thanks

Now he used to smoke (mary jane) with me but when my mom found out she sent me to rehab. Well me and him have both quit smoking and all other drugs, and hes a really great guy. But i’m still banned from seeing him. How can I tell her how important he is to me and make her understand? I told my therapist and he even got onto her for not giving him a chance (she avoids him and refuses to even TRY and meet him)..her excuse was I’ve never met him, until I said she could. Now it’s hes to old. Which probably is true but still. I just want her to understand. Whats a good way to get her to open up, meet him, and try?
Ha. I showed her what everyone wrote. She said no I hate him and I can’t stand the way he looks. He has no chance. Whatever, I guess I’ll just sneak around. :(
And I’m not thinking with my hormones. I really like this guy. And I graduated high school and am about to start college. The same college he goes to actually. I just think it’s dumb. Shes ready for me to move out, go to college, but not date who I want? Hes not a negative influence either. We were stupid but we don’t do that stuff anymore. We both have jobs and support ourselves. I think I should be allowed to date who I want.

Well his son is coming to live with us he just got out of Rehab for Heroin addiction and his mom wants nothing to do with him at all. Well hubby and i have three son’s of our own 2.4,6 and so as you can imagine i am concerned for there safty and well being but at the same time i also believe in Redemption so to speak everyone makes mistakes and i understand that so i am trying not to hold any preconceived notions about the kid but at the same time never had to really be a step parent to this kid and everything. I mean honestly i am more worried about him relapsing into it because he got into it to begin with because his gf was into it heavily and then she introduced him to it and then she died because of in OD so he got into it heavily trying to block out his pain and everything. Sorry for blabbing i just don’t know what to do with the kid hubby thinks there isn’t a threat and that he will be fine and that we just need to love on him but at the same time i don’t want him here =/. Advice?

He was convicted of 1 Felony & 3 Misdemeanors and incarcerated when she was 11 months old. One of the Misdemeanors was from abuse he inflicted upon me and then when I told him it was over and was going to file for a divorce he choked me until I passed out resulting in the Felony and Misdemeanor for breaking the restraining order. The other Misdemeanor was from breaking the order again by contacting me from jail. He recently got out of jail and last month entered a rehab center to deal with his drug abuse issues which is a 12 month program. He would have been in jail for longer but he pled guilty at the last minute…He has a long criminal history and he has never been able to stay off drugs for very long. In the year since he has been gone I have created a wonderful life for myself and my daughter. She is the happiest little girl and I want to keep her that way. I want to keep her safe.

The man is a film direector.
He is a drug addict.
He starts to get really sick (peeing and coughing blood).
His friend puts him into rehab.
He is visited by his mother’s ghost there.
He meets a cellist and falls in love.
They get married and eventually she gets pregnant.
His sickness gets worse.
He finds out he had cancer but gets better then gets sick again.
He hides his sickness form his wife.
At the end, his wife is at a recital.
He arrives late and starts experiencing stomach aches.
He collapses and is rushed to a hospital.
His pregnant wife follows and goes into labor.
In the end, you see the wife with the baby and the man. You think that he survied somehow but then you realize that he is with the ghost of his mother and that he is just watching over his family.

It’s ridiculous how much I know about this film without knowing the name. I vaugely remember that the title had something to do with cars, parking, reverse, or something of the kind.
I remember watching it either on Sundance or IFC. I’m guessing that it was made withing the past ten years.
ANY help would be greatly appreciated!
