There are many more people who are going through the same thing then you know! It’s good that you are reaching out and getting help. It does sound like you are eating to cope with feelings and I’m sure you know it’s not good to do that especially since it sounds like it makes you feel bad. I would try to find a local counselor who you can talk to or perhaps try a program like jenny craig. Sounds like you will need to deal with the emotions behind your eating though to get healthy!
Many people are going through this! If you want a solution I would advise you to try Jenny Craig, Nutrisystem, or try to talk to someone about because there has to be something behind all of the eating.
Well, a binge eating disorder is when you eat a big meal quickly, then throw it up before it is completely digested. So it’s not that. Just talk to a doctor about it and they’ll help you!
Don’t feel ashamed or alienated. Even Oprah, the most powerful woman in the world, struggles with this! Its oh so common. You’ve got to rewire yourself to remove food from your emotional struggles and then, of course, get to the bottom of those so you aren’t so depressed! I know, easier said than done. I’ve been looking into this cognitive therapy process called “mindfulness” and really like it. I struggle with some mood problems myself, and this has really helped me become aware of when my own thought patterns are dragging me down. Its nice for those of us who don’t feel very comfortable talking to someone else, such as a therapist, because there are workbooks and other resources available. Of course, if you are clinically depressed, a professional will be able to help you out more quickly! Good luck!
Actually, you’re not eating too often. 6 meals a day isn’t necessarily bad, and it’s actually recommended by some professionals. Where you’re going wrong is your intake amount. You stated that you “eat and eat and eat till you’re so full of food.” That’s not good–you should never really feel full.
I’ve listed some links below. I encourage you to browse these sites. The first one talks about the benefits of the 6 meal/day diet plan, and the other two, specifically the last one, give tips and recommendations on how exactly to go about this diet plan.
I do agree with you that you binge eat. You eat far too frequently to be eating so much, and you’re letting your body control you, rather than you controlling your body. I sympathize with you, because although I have the opposite problem–I dislike food and eating in general–regaining control of your body, and listening to your senses can be difficult. I definitely would recommend this 6 meal/day diet plan to you, simply because you’re used to eating 6 meals. You won’t have to get too hungry in between mealtimes, but you’ll be cutting back on your caloric intake which will definitely lead to a healthier you, and hopefully also to some weight loss.
Cheers!
