I really want to help a friend of mine who is an alcohol addict. I think a big factor of what made her an addict was the fact that she grew up in a home wherein one of her parents (her dad) also drinks alcohol profusely. Her mom is almost always away, so my friend has always been left on her own to fend for herself. I feel bad that she has a family like that. She’s always spending nights sleeping over at my house, and she’s more like a sister to me now, so I really want to help her.

   Does she want to be helped? Does she want to get treated? A lot of alcoholics don’t admit to themselves that they’ve got a problem. If she refuses to get herself treated, you can do an alcohol intervention first. However, treatment will be more effective if she agrees to getting treated. As for the alcohol rehabs, it would be good to get the recommendations of doctors or healthcare providers.
