How to do you binge eating/bulimia?
September 6th, 2010Hi I’m 15 and I have binge eating disorder. I haven’t been diagnosed with it from a doctor, but that because I’m just to ashamed to tell anyone, only my sister knows. I’m addicted to food. I have a serious addiction to food. I’m called skinny all the time though. And this is because most of the food I do eat ends up being thrown up. And every couple of days, I stave myself for about four days and then binge for days afterwords. And right now, I’m in that cycle where I’ve been eating serious amount for the past three days. But seriously, I ate so much in the past three days that I seriously feel sick, physically and mentally. I ate so much yesterday and today but I didn’t throw any of it up. I do this thing where I don’t eat all day and then just binge on everything. And if I binge I feel uncomfortable going out anywhere because I feel gross and disgusted. I ate bascailly all the candy my mom bought for the trick or treaters. And since I ate I can’t go out. But I really want to. It’s not fair. I hate this so much. I was suppsed to go to a party today. It’s halloween but I stayed in. Because my food addiction and discusting habits have been kicking in lately so bad. I can’t do this anymore. I want to go out right now, I’d be out right now with my friends but I feel to discusting. How you do you stop a food addition, binge eating, and bulimia? I feel sick.
Perhaps you could post your problem in the Mental Health section under Health as this is really a mental problem.
I am so sorry to hear about your problem and hope you are doing OK.
It sounds like you have bulimia and I know because I had it for 13 years and it was just awful and got worse and worse. I wish I had stopped when I was younger.
If you continue to engage in purging, it will be obvious to people, if it isn’t already. Basically i am saying you are probably not hiding it as well as you think you are and your esophogus and throat are being affected already. Your cheeks are probably bloated. Your teeth and tongue will have signs that a dentist can see (he/she will know what you are doing), your eyes can be damaged from the pressure of the act of forced vomiting, and your hair will get thinner. Also bulimia also causes:
Chronic gastric reflux after eating
Dehydration and hypokalemia caused by frequent vomiting
Electrolyte imbalance, which can lead to cardiac arrhythmia, cardiac arrest, and even death
Esophagitis, or inflammation of the esophagus
Oral trauma, in which repetitive insertion of fingers or other objects causes lacerations to the lining of the mouth or throat
Gastroparesis or delayed emptying
Constipation
Enlarged glands in the neck, under the jaw line
Peptic stomach ulcers
Calluses or scars on back of hands due to repeated trauma from incisors
and it makes you depresssed.
it’s not a good story so quit now!
I hope you will make an appointment with a doctor ASAP. It will be the first day of the rest of your life and you will be so happy you are confronting this problem. So why wait? Go now if you can.
I recommend that you see a regular medical doctor, but also a therapist. The therapist will help you get down to the reason why you are doing this. You sound depressed to and he/she could help with that. If you have had some traumatic things happen in your childhood which could be a part of why you developed food issues, they will help you figure it out and teach you how to stop.
Purging is not healthy, physically or mentally so I really hope you will seek help as soon as possible. I am really proud of you for addressing this. You deserve a good life and to be free of this. You do not want to take this with you into adulthood because it will affect your future relationships and your longterm health.
Good luck to you, you can do it.
