My dad always makes jokes about heroin and how he’s gonna start doing it?
September 3rd, 2010He jokes around a lot about a lot of things, but this is the only thing that really worries me.
I know he used to do heroin when he was a kid, but he quit. he didn’t go to any fancy rehab, or anything, he said he just straight up quit it, that’s what he always told my mother.
He is kind of sick. He has emphysema (won’t quit smoking), glaucoma (just got a cornea transplant and is starting to gain back his sight), and some problem with his kidneys.
I’m 16 and I see him once a week, because that’s all my mother allows me to spend with him, because of his record, and such.
I just don’t know what to do. Sometimes I feel like I’m the adult, and he’s the child.
Heroine and meth are the biggest when it comes to drug jokes dont worry bud
It sounds like you’re more mature than your dad is.
Tell your dad that it scares you and makes you feel bad when he says that. Let him know how much you care and that when he says things like that it makes you worried. Tell him what you wrote here, and let him know that you don’t think it’s funny when he says that.
Agreed with Super Hobo Hillbilly.
But you should also realize that it’s your dad’s own choice. Especially when someone is nearing the end of his/her life, there’s a lot of strong, possibly negative, emotions. Maybe he isn’t happy with life and doesn’t want to live normally and he just wants to spend his last few years in a heroin bliss before passing. That’s not crazy.
For sure it hurts you, but it’s not your choice to make. You can only let your dad know how you would feel if he makes this choice.
