I’m talking about any baby who after it was born had to stay in the hospital to get weaned off the drug of choice their mother was on. I’m in the healthcare profession and I don’t believe in some of the decisions “the system” makes and was wondering what other people thought.

Such a baby should be handed over to social services until the mother can prove that she has cleaned up her act and can take care of the baby.

Well obviously she knows where to score the junk. I couldnt think of a better home for a dopefiend baby than with it’s dopefiend mother.
No, I don’t think a drug addict should be allowed to care for a newborn infant. She didn’t give a damn about the baby while she was snorting or shooting up while she was pregnant with that innocent and helpless baby, so why on earth would ANYONE think that she would care for it after it was born?
Other than a stillborn, I can think of nothing worse than a baby addicted to drugs before it was even born. These babies go through hell and I personally think the drug addicted so called Mothers should be charged with providing drugs to a minor or ANYTHING that would put them in jail immediately after the baby’s birth so they had time to suffer withdrawls right along with the baby.
No, it should be released to the father with a temporary custody order. If there is no father, the mother should first complete ’6 months-180 days’ of detox and rehabilitation, and go for forensic evaluation to determine if she’s fit to care for the child she almost unwillingly killed.
