My sister and her husband have been unable to conceive and want to have a family more than anything. They would love to adopt a child and are open to infants or older children (even a brother/sister combo) up to 7-8 years old. They are hesitant to foster a child because the heartbreak would be too much if the crack addict mother came back and took the child after they had bonded. They want a clean adoption and don’t have the big bucks it takes to go to China or to adopt through a private agency like rich folks do. How can they adopt if they don’t have all sorts of money? Please help me find some web sites and other resources for them. Thank you! (They live in Pennsylvania if that makes a difference in your answers.)

If your child told you that you were the worst mother in the world for putting a man [not a good man] before her.. Would you be hurt?

I am on the giving, not receiving end of this statement. I told my mom that, I wonder if it hurt her? She does feel guilty but she wants BOTH her kids AND this abusive, drug addict boyfriend in her life. I told her to choose and she said she can’t.

SO I called her the worst mother among other things… Does anyone have similar stories or know what she’s feeling?

I heard about a movie today about a young girl who’s parents are drug addicts, and the mother dies. The father says they should burn her but the child suggests just wrapping her up and leaving her so noone else burns things. They move to the fathers hometown and the girl makes friends with a man/boy with mental problems. They become very close. I cannot remember for the life of me what the name of the film was, I believe it had the word “tide” in it.
I dont even want to see it frankly, it’s just annoying me because I cant remember the name of it!
I think it’s shown through the eyes of the child.

I see so many people at my job who smoke crack and ice and they don’t understand that they can’t controll the drug. I work in a convience store. For everyone who starts is 15 others who look all skinny and sick trying to sell their mother stuff to get high. There are so many public awarness movies and people still don’t understand. What do you think? How do you think we could change things.

my son has custody. The mother is now in prison for what I think was a crime committed to get money for drugs. She has written a tear-jerking letter to my son asking him to have her daughter be her pen pal while she is in prison. My grand daughter is 9 years old, and termed by her teacher to be emotionally and academically immature. My son has asked me what I thought. I spend a lot of time working with my grand daughter to help her catch up on school work, learn music, etc. I’m not inclined to let her correspond with a mother who chose drugs over her. Am I wrong?

So my father is a drug addict but yet my mother and myself continue to enable him. Every time he goes out of a binge and spends every dime we have, we still allow him to come back to our home and enable him by providing food and shelter. This has been going on the past 4 years and even though my mother has finally taken a stand against him, tonight he came back from a binge and yet I can’t stop enabling. My mother has gave him 3 days to get out and refuses to talk to him but yet I snuck upstairs and brought him some food and water. Was this wrong? I don’t know how to stop this, I feel so guilty about being so cold even though he has done many horrible things to my family. Any help please.
I wish it wasn’t so hard to just “cut the ties”. He’s not even my real father, he’s my step-dad but my real father had this same problem and I haven’t seen him in over 7 years. I keep thinking it’s my fault that all of my father figures go off and do drugs. Maybe this is the reason for my enabling? It seems like we’ve put him through every drug treatment possible, we’re out of options but I feel bad about kicking him onto the streets.

We all grew up in similar situations..( well, my step-family had my father growing up) he was very strict with them… 5 of my step-mothers kids are very successful ie: 2 Attorney’s 1 Retired Military, 1 Teacher and 1 computer smarty pants My mother’s kids, addicts, alcoholics, and ‘ner do wells…. Could this have been a genetic thing that my step-mother had intelligent kids? or could have been they were “pushed”, encouraged more…. I’m at a lost? opinions pls.
p.s. My step-mother and father were no (apparant) college educated scholors, just working class like my mother.

Has your parents ever got on your case for spending to much time on video games, such as GTA games and such? Has your mother constantly criticized you for that. Have they always blamed the video games because you’re in struggle in school?

this involves a drug addict mother who was in jail and a unethical lawyer who she hired to defend her. I am the father and need to know if what they have done is legal. My girlfriend has a drug addict mom who always takes her car whenever she isn’t looking. Is there any simple way to prevent her from doing this? Her mom has created a copy to my girlfriend’s car so all i’m wondering is there a simple way to make it harder for her to take the car so she just gives up and forgets about it. I know a steering club would do but can i take out a fuse or something from the ignition?

Quick rundown…dated a guy for one year, in that year he lived in my parent’s house for four months, parents fed him, gave him whatever he needed, took him out to dinner endless times (he never offered to pay) ..found out he was doing heroin the entire year of dating…stole from my mother, father, and myself (stole everything from cash to credit card info to my horse FEED!) found out all of the stealing 1 day after I broke up with him….it has been two months and just found out my mother has been helping him, putting him in a hotel, buying him dinner, buying him cigarettes, etc…I AM FURIOUS …I am ignoring her, but not sure what I should do, I feel very betrayed because she knows I HATE him with a passion and I want nothing but him to suffer (and she should obviously hate him too…he owes her and my dad around $3K!!!) I am a 19 year old male that lives in a small town. I don’t have a lot of discipline because I was raised by my drug addicted mother and my father was basically never there for me. Now that I am an adult I have been trying to think about what I want to do with my life. I know that I can’t go to college because I don’t want to be a broke student and I don’t think that I could succeed on that level. I am wondering if anyone has any ideas on something that I could do where I would make a decent amount of money( I know $ doesn’t = Happiness) but I am a poor motha, so that is a start. Maybe it is all part of being a 19 year old male, but I am really confused and bored because I bus tables five nights a week and I have nothing to do during the day.

She lied about her living situation and receives food stamps. She lives with her boyfriend of 17 years (her 2 kids’ father-not mine) and he works as well, mowing lawns. She didn’t report that.
She drives 80+ miles round trip 3-5 times a week to go gambling.
She works as a waitress, so I don’t understand where she gets all this money.
When she’s home, she’s either online gambling (using real money), watching poker tournaments on T.V., or whining and moping because she couldn’t go gambling that day.
Every conversation with her includes something about money and gambling.
She rents a house and has 2 kids to support. She just kicked my 16 y/o sister out of the house – she’s a typical teen that back talks and doesn’t want to follow all the rules, but mom has mental issues and says horrible things and becomes physically violent with sister.
If anyone mentions anything about her gambling problem, she gets real mad.
My mother’s excuses are that it’s her money and she can do whatever she wants with it. But my view is she needs to make sure her bills are paid first and she has groceries for kids before blowing her $ on gambling.
Their phone and cable always get disconnected for periods of time.
I almost want to turn her in to welfare for fraud – how is it right for her to get food stamps, when she spends at LEAST $400 a month gambling -probably way more when you figure gas and online spending?
Honestly, it’s not my buisness, but I feel bad for my sister getting kicked out and want mother to take responsibility for her daughter.
My sis called me at 3 am last night begging me to come pick her up from her boyfriend’s house, because he had beaten her up. She has nowhere to go but here at my house. I will not be able to financially support her. I have 2 kids of my own and literally live paycheck to paycheck. I don’t get any gov’t assistance or blow my $ on addictions.

What can we do? Could my mom get into legal trouble for kicking my 16 y/o sister out of the house? Sister’s never been arrested but did recently drop out of school-with mother’s consent. Was in the process of getting GED before getting kicked out.

My 6 year old daughter is stuck with her mother who is addicted to crack. My daughter isnt being taken care of properly, bathed, fed or anything else. My ex wifes mother, father, brother, 15 year old daughter and 21 year old son have all called the police and DCS for her addiction, child neglect and her trying to steal etc. I pay $140 a week for child support and the ex doesnt work. My daughter sees none of this money and not only do I not get to see her, but I also dont get to talk to her because my ex is homeless with my daughter and has no phone. I have been in court for 3 months with this and still havent gotten anything accomplished. I cant complain about my attorney because he is doing everything possible and I have spent thousands of dollars. She has done nothing the judge has ordered and hasnt even gotten an attorney. I work everyday and have a good stable job and Im not on drugs. I am out of ideas other than doing something that I will be in jail for. Any ideas on what to do?

Or would this cause the baby more harm? I’ve heard that the baby can get addicted to methadone if the mother takes it while the baby is inside her womb. Should the woman just stop her use of drugs and wait until the baby gets born before she seeks treatment?

he is a drug addict and my mother inlaw didn’t ask us if she could invite them, i don’t want them here because of the way he behaves my kids don’t need their uncle here high on drugs!  How do I tell my mother inlaw to uninvite him without being rude to her?
