Sadly My MOTHER is addicted to Runescape?
March 31st, 2010Okay, so my mom has been playing Runescape since I was in 4th grade. I am currently in 9th grade and im totally sick of it. She gets up at 5:45, goes on, drives me to school around 6:30 ( unless she has to wait for her Summoning thing to leave), comes back and plays until dinner where she cooks (but not recently, my dad is starting to cook dinner now) and then plays to at least 11 at night. To show you that this isnt fake, I will post her stats up her.
I used to play this game until I realized… I HAD A LIFE.

Im really starting to get scared because she looks totally unhealthy and doesn’t even have her nails or hair colored anymore. && my grandparents recently came and all she could do was play Runescape. they said she looked like she gained 20 lbs since the last time they saw her.
Please this is really an addiction and i wont appreciate how funny this might sound to some people. It was funny for the first couple of years but now it is hopeless. Nobody else’s mom plays Runescape.
Now what I would do, is tell your mom the truth.
Tell her how much she’s wasting her time, playing a game that is meant to be built for 12 year olds. Tell your mom that she has a life, and remind her that you’re still her child.
She’s obviously not going to be happy with the idea of stopping. Find something else for her to be addicted to and maybe it’ll help. My mom finds a new game every month or two.
I think you should sit down with your father and talk to him about this. He’s the one who is going to need to try and get her to do something about it.
Addictions are real…
pull the network cable out of the computer. do not tell anyone and when the computer will not go online, perhaps she will do something else till it is fixed.
First off, pull the plug to the computer. Cut it if you even have to! This is the only way you can possibly talk to her. Tell her how you feel, how you think you’re loosing touch with her, and shes not being a very good mother at all. I would suggest planning activities away from the house to keep her mind off of it. Maybe even a little counseling. If this continues, get rid of all devices that she could go onto to play ruinescape. Maybe she might have to go away for a little bit to get some help if it gets worse. I really hope everything will work out. I’ll pray for you. Best of luck, God bless you :)
I worked in a betting agency for 13 years so I know this is not funny at all, I can understand how you feel.
The most important thing is: does you mum want to stop or not? Because she must reach the last point to want to stop.
There are some game addiction centre for people addicted to betting, poker and things like that. I don’t know where you live, you could look on the internet for some clues of one centre near you. I think basically they work as the Alcoholic Anonymous works. If she doesn’t want to do anything about it maybe you can read about this addictions and find some hints on how to cope with her. I think she need to realize that she is losing her family and her life with this addiction.
I am sorry I can’t help you, look for professional help.
Sorry for my English, is not my first language.
Get her addicted to sex with her husband.
Seriously.
Cause I was sorta addicted to runescape until I realized that sex was so much better. =D
Well…if you don’t want that…
Then tell her what a loser she is for playing that game.
i got sucked into the game as well lol but not for that long. u should take the computers power cord out and hide it, then tell her you will give it back once she agrees to not play as much
Sorry, I dont know what to say.
It sounds like your Mom needs an intervention, where her family, friends and a mental health member confront your Mom about her addiction, try to get her to see that she has a problem, and how much it’s effecting her family and friends, then she needs to take the appropriate steps to regaining control of her life, such as joining a self help group, counseling, ETC, hope it works out well, Mercee.
Go to the internet cord, and twist it, lots! they’re really easy to screw up and it wont even look broken.
