Do you think someone who was raised by alcoholics/drug addicts can be a good mother?

Friday, March 19th, 2010

My wife’s friend is 23 and is pregnant with her first baby.

Her father has been married 5 times, he has many DUIs due to his alcholism, has been in jail a lot and he is violent with women.

Her mother had boyfriends who beat her up, she was an alcoholic and drug user since her daughter was 1 and died of a herion overdose when her daughter was 20.

My wife’s friend has had many engagements with men she knew only weeks, and married a guy after 5 months of knowing him. They hate each other, she cheated on him after 6 months of marriage, and she asked for a divorce 3 months before she got pregnant on purpose. She parties all of the time and has had a drinking problem for the past 5 years.

My wife tries to help her friend, but her friend says she doesn’t have any problems and will be a good mom despite her plans to continue her lifestyle after the baby is born.

Do you think that she will be a good mom once the baby is born?

If god loves everyone so much why does he allow babies to be born to mothers addicted to crack?

Or allow children to be molester? Or allow children to have cancer? Or allow children to step on land mines? Or allow children to be burnt to death in meth labs?

By allowing that god is no better then a mother who turns her head when the father molest the child.

I have the worst mother in law ever. It is really effecting my marriage. Is it wrong to keep my kids from her?

Friday, March 19th, 2010

My mother in law was a prison guard and had an affiar with an inmate. She is planning to live with his parents until he gets out of prison in a year. She dropped this news on us at my daughter’s 1st birthday party. She lets her drug addicted daughter crash at her house and has found drug needles in her home. Am i wrong for keeping my daughter away from her. It is really taking a toll on my marriage. My hubby is a mama’s boy! The lifestyles are just too different! There is always drama in her life and it really brings everyone around her down. I love my other in-laws, she just gets under my skin every chance she gets!! I am truly concerned about the effect her life will have on my kids. She has not seen my 1 yr old in 2mths because she will not call ahead of time because she feels like i am making her make an appointment if i ask her to give me some notice before visiting. (Hello, maybe sometimes I try to sneak a few private moments with my hubby when the kiddos are asleep!) HELP!

Mom addicted to World of Warcraft. Can anyone help?

Friday, March 19th, 2010

My mom has been addicted to World of Warcraft for over a year now. It’s all she ever talks about and all she ever does. This is one of the hardest things I have had to deal with in my 20 years on earth, even though my father is an alcoholic. I have no idea what to do to help her. My mom got worse after I moved away in September of 2005, I moved back in September of 2006 and I didn’t know how bad it was as I only visited twice in the year that I lived about 300 miles away. Now I am back living at “home” until my boyfriend and I can get a place of our own. It is terrible seeing her as a zombie, she used to be so healthy and full of life. Now, she even takes days off work if something goes wrong in the game (usually something with her guild), and she took a day off when the expansion came out. The depth of the problem is so hard to get into. I don’t know what to do. I am pregnant with her first grandchild and she doesn’t even seem to care, as it is not WoW related. I am so hurt.
I’m not going to get into the game. I tried that with the last game that she was addicted to, and all it seemed to do was to make her think that I completely supported her, and then she played even more. That would be like taking up drinking so I could spend time with my alcoholic father.
I guess it’s going to be hard to find people that believe this is a true addiction. She was a wonderful vibrant person before getting into online games, and now she is just a shadow of her former self. This is just as hurtful to me as if she were addicted to illegal drugs or anything else more common. She never skipped work for any reason other then illness before the game. We used to be best friends, and now I feel as though I don’t even know her.

Why is my mom so addicted, she became chain-smoker with 3 packs a day and she smokes cigars deep inhale daily?

Friday, March 19th, 2010

My mom is 50 years old heavy chain-smoking woman for years. She is on her 3 packs a day habit with no intense to quit or cut it down. She is smoking for about 25 years, and she is always with a ciggie in her mouth smoking like a chimney and every day she smokes more and more. She also likes to smoke two cigs at once saying that she really needs to smoke more to feel good. In a recent years she started to smoke cigars on a daily purpose, she is really deeply inhaling them and says that she likes big smoke that fills her inside. She has a female friends about her age, who also smokes a lot and when they come to our house it is smoke everywhere i’m almost out of breath.
And my mom changed a lot. She looks older than she is, she got wrinkles on her face too early, she has a yellow tar stained teeth and very bad breath, she is always coughing a lot and constantly out of breath, sometimes i noticed that she is feeling dizzy, but she says she is ok. Is it a big problem?

Would you let your child’s friend come over to your house if their mother was a drug addict?

Friday, March 19th, 2010

She showed up at my sons birhtday party strung out.
I know the it’s not the child’s fault and she is a very well behaved and well mannered, but I am affaid that something may happen if her mother shows up to my house while she is high.
My kids do not go over to her house at all unless we are picking up the child and then either me or my husband are with them the whole time.
