it could be depending on what is happening with the child. if everything is fine with the child, no beatings, getting their nutrition, and so on, i don’t think there is anything you can do. except report her for possesion of drugs.
if grandmother is sober and taking care of the child?
kids shouldnt be raised around that crap
It depends on the extent of the addiction, but if the child is not being neglected, or abused, there is little chance the authorities will act.
in our state i don’t think it would be considered abuse unless the child has been physically or mentally abuse or if the child has been exposed to the drug of choice…but in our state it is considered neglect or at the very least it would be considered child endangerment. if you are asking this question, then it is apparent that your conscious is bothering you…try reporting this anonymously. the court may only temporarily separate them if the mother can clean up her act and the child would be better off.
If the Grandmother looks after the child and the child isnt being neglected then I guess not. But the mother shouldn’t have custody if she is a drug addict and the grandmother should have full custody. A drug addict should not be responsible for a child because they cannot make sensible decisions
If the mother can get help to overcome her adiction and have more of a part in her kids life, and look after them more, that for the best.Being a drug addict doesint mean she doesint care about her kids,it light interfere with her parenting though. She needs all the counselling and help she can get, especially as shes a parent.Separating children and parents can be traumatising and upsetting to children.I think its better to help someone who develops problem, and help improve the situation, rather than punish someone. She needs to be willing to try too though.
As long as the child is not getting beaten, molested, raped, and is getting fed, clothed, and bathed, there is no child abuse occurring. If anything, call the police and report her for using drugs, because no matter what, children shouldn’t grow up around that stuff.
Misty, let me say I am a counselor and Parole officer, so I do have first hand experience with this. It depends on many factors. One what state you are in and what the laws are there. How old the child is. What type of drug(s) does mom use and how often. Is the grandmother capable of taking care of child when mom is high? Is mom hurting child, physically through not eating or hitting. I know I did not answer the question but those are all factors. If you do not get a better answer that works for you consider reading my profile and contacting me. Be glad to give you some suggestions of what to do with the Child Welfare God Bless Reggie
it depends.
if the child is being taken care of and loved properly than no since no neglect or abuse is taking place.
however it is wrong for a person to do drugs when they have kids, ill always believe that.
maybe someone should clue the grandmother in.
