i know alot of people that have had pill problems, along with drug problems. and normally u cant realli break the addiction. its kinda of up to the person. there are lil chances that sum1 will quit there drug choice for a better life. But all i can say if take em away and let her realize what can happen and what she will miss. good luck
You can’t help her quit if she doesn’t want to. Besides, tend your own garden, it’s only been 3 months, you have enough to deal with without adding her woes.
pain medications are opiates which is similar to heroin. Many people who are getting off pain medication go to clinics and get methadone or suboxone ( sp). However alot of people stay on that and never quit which is not good. She needs to see a doctor to plan this. It is not easy. She has to want to do it herself.. Otherwise, may I suggest a intervention?
Sherry, first of all you cannot change things over night. Don’t get mad, but when someone quits drinking and starts preaching then it really turns the other people off. It is good you stopped smoking as one joint is about ten times worse than a cigarette. Thing is now a days you have no idea what they are mixing with it or spraying on it. With all the stuff going on it’s no telling.
You mentioned pain pills. Now a days they want you to count your pills and normally the max a day is 6, 1-2 every 6-8 hours. I have several heirniated disc in my neck and back and take them. I found this stuff called reveratrol that acts a Cox 1 and 2 inhibitor like the Vioxx and Celbrex, but without the problems and the stuff does the job, you can feel it.
It’s called new-u at http://www.oldsouthwinery.com. Most vitamin shops have it, but it’s made from the knotweed plant. Now the winery makes muscadine wine and use the grape of the muscadine, it’s the best and the rest make theirs from the root of the knotweed plant. You can also get it at vitcost.com. Vitaminshoppe.com has the knotweed tyype that the Chinese and Japanese use.
Back to Mom you cannot expect an overnite change, but you could get her to try this. Two of the pills knock out the pain and there is no reason to take the pain meds. Check with the vitamin shops in your area. Had a couple of girlfriends in Wilmington, pretty nice up there (if that’s where you are cause yo mentioned Marine).
Anyway you might also want to go to jsm.org and order the $30 expository Bible they have on sale (regular $125) it explains just about every verse. If not on the site call the 800 number. Hope it works out for you, but sometimes it takes time, seems you and your Mom are close and that is a real plus. Put it this way you have a will and a way and you want to do this, so you will, just don’t get discouraged. Jesus said not to worry. Take care.
That is a very tough question…one not easily answered. Obviously your mom did something right…because she has a daughter that loves her, and is worried about her….the first step in any recovery program is admitting you have a problem….I know that sounds simplistic…but really for those who are addicted it is a HUGE hurdle to jump over. Try not to judge her…but don’t enable her by turning a blind eye to her problem…(obviously you haven’t done that recently…but now that YOU have started to deal with your own issues…hers are becoming more clear to you). Hopefully you have consulted a drug expert…someone you can trust to check your perceptions with….and not made that diagnosis yourself. Once you have fortified your instincts with fact…you can start confronting her a bit…
You have every right to be concerned for your mom, she could lose her license…or worse yet, hurt someone because she was impared while working. As the child of alcoholics myself, I can tell you that what you have already experienced with your mom for the last 10 years can make you as sick as she is….and leave YOU with a lifetime of addictive tendancies that you will have to work through yourself…so I am encouraging you to get in touch with a counselor….narcanon chapter….anything that can help you deal not only with your mom…but also yourself, and your feelings….so often the children of addicts find themselves in a role reversal situation where they feel responsible for their parents actions….this can make you absolutely looney! You are to be comended for your caring attitude…but remember that your mom is an adult and makes her own choices…no matter how painful they are to you and to herself…she is the one in control…good luck…my thoughts are with you!
