I believe that the State should control services like health care or child care. But people still have the right to choose their own doctors and schools. the only difference is that you don’t have to pay for it. But yes there will always be a private sector as an alternative to the public one, but that just improves the quality of the treatments. All I’m saying is that Unviversal Health Care is necessary for those who can’t afford insurance.

So you think that your freedom is taken away from you because you have to pay more in taxes. You still have the choice to get treatment in the private hospitals. And private hospitals vs. public hospitals will create competition and secure your beloved free market.

How would you like it if your neighbor forced you to hand over a % of your income at gunpoint every year? It’s no different, the state is just a group of people.

Sop projecting your personal value judgments onto people with force.

I am all for global free access to health-care, but I’m not so stupid as to appeal to the state to provide it.

The state is terrible at service provision, because it is a violent monopoly. Achieve your aims through voluntary interaction, not death threats, that is the only sustainable way.

there are TWO (2) pilars to freedom, Physical Freedom and Financial Freedom. You cannot make an arguement that if we paid 100% in taxes but got everything we wanted freedom. By definition the entity that pays makes the rules. Freedom is ABSENT of these financial rules. as for Free Markets to which I know you know nothing about based on your last post, if something has to be created then it is NOT a free Market. Competition already exists within the market but federal Rules

ie Regulation, makes it impossible for people to practice medicine. Tort laws, Education requirements, Degree requirements, Internship requirement, Payment Requirements, Patient requirements, Medical Requirement and mandates. If I know how to clean stitch someones cut because of Military Training or community College textbooks or whatever, I cannot BY LAW open a small shop to provide cleaning and stitching of wounds unless I had so many years of Training as required by law.

You as a free man should be able to either choose MY services for 20 or 30 bucks or go to the hospital and pay 1500-2000 dollars for the same damn thing. Government FORCES you via Regulation to take the high priced one because my business would not even Exist because of law and regulation. If I screw up and your cut gets infected I can be held liable ONLY if I was reckless and disregarded safety Procedures. and because of LAWS i would not be able to give you antibiotics.

this is a SMALL example of how Government phucks EVERYTHING up. HMOs is a nother example. Your Stalinist Democrat GOD ted kennedy WROTE the HMO bill!!! how is that working out for ya. HMOs was created to help REDUCE THE COST OF HEALTHCARE!!!!!! IT FAILED!!!!!
The thought was that if just government made some rules that the evil Insurance companies had to follow that would reduce cost… well guess what. a year after HMO became legal, healthcare cost rose 800% and 500% over the next five years

Now that scares me. You cannot be so blind as to not see the violence inherent in the system. What do you think the police are? What do you think the military is for? This is a state monopoly on the use of violent coercion.

There is overwhelming evidence of state violence, there is no question that this is a fact.

If you are so ignorant as to be unaware of the fundamental basis of your political system, you are unqualified to be making prescriptions for social change.

Sure the state CAN provide services (as a monopoly, participation with which is enforced with threats of violence) but the question of whether they should is much more complex, and the answer is relative to each individual and their preferences.

Anyone who understands how economics works, can see why state services are destructive. It squashes diversity, disrupts the equilibrium of pricing, and under-serves the market.

Don’t project YOUR preferences on EVERYONE by force.
