12 Critical Facts About Antioxidants

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

We hear a lot today about antioxidants, “free radicals” and what we can do about them. There is much confusion, so it may help to break down the key facts about these important, potentially life-saving and life-extending substances.

1. Oxygen is good and bad. In the human system, this basic element is both a help and a hindrance. Without it, no life. And yet, oxygen can work to break down other substances in the body as it is metabolized, creating what are called “free radicals” that displace electrons from other molecular structures. This is extremely damaging.

2. Oxidation is the name for this damage. An antioxidant, therefore, is anything that works to stop or retard this damaging breakdown by adding back an electron to the free radical and rendering it harmless.

3. We have natural antioxidants. Our bodies can fight this battle naturally, to an extent. Common nutrients such as beta-carotene, vitamin E, vitamin C and selenium have been found to have antioxidant properties.

4. There are serious repercussions. The body actually does need some free radicals to function effectively, but an excessive amount is correlated with such diseases as heart and liver disease, as well as cancer.

5. Environmental factors affect you. Oxidation is exacerbated by stress, tobacco, drinking alcohol, excess exposure to the sun, air and water pollution, and other environmental and behavioral factors. There are things you can do in your lifestyle beyond taken antioxidant supplements to combat this scourge.

6. Antioxidants can be preventive. They work by reducing the number and effect of free radicals may even work to inhibit the spread of cancerous cells. For one example, they are thought to help prevent the beginnings of heart disease due to oxidation. By limiting the number of unstable, electron-deprived molecules, antioxidants can prevent the free-radical “chain reaction” from starting in the first place, in various places and organs in the body.

7. Antioxidants can be curative. We already have evidence that antioxidants can help ameliorate both symptoms and side effects of many diseases that proliferate because of oxidation in our bodies. It is also clear that antioxidants are effective in the treatment of chronic inflammation, and other applications are being discovered all the time.

8. The body’s natural antioxidant mechanisms can be supported by supplementation.  Our bodies already circulate many nutrients precisely because of their antioxidant properties. They also create antioxidant enzymes expressly for the purpose of controlling free radicals and the damaging chain reactions. Our systems will utilize any other antioxidant substances in these same processes.

9. Mom was right: Take your vitamins. Vitamin E has been shown to suppress the “stickiness” of blood platelets and acts as an anticoagulant to decrease the formation of heart-attack-inducing blood clots. Vitamin C helps in this as well, by inhibiting a blood factor that is used to build clots.

10. Cancer is the next frontier. Antioxidants may have an important role in the fight against cancer through their ability to neutralize the DNA-damaging free radicals.  A huge amount of research is being done in this area right now, all around the world. The good news is that the therapies developed from natural substances will not be limited by the need for a physician’s prescription.

11. Antioxidants are good for the brain, too. Because they prevent injury to blood vessel membranes, antioxidants can help to stabilize and even increase blood flow to the brain and the heart. The additional defense they offer against the DNA damage that is at the root of many cancers also helps lower the risk of cardiovascular disease, dementia and even Alzheimer’s disease.

12. The science is evidence-based, not anecdotal. One of the most important things to remember is that reporting on antioxidants is done by some publications and websites that are also touting crystal power and other spurious cures. The fact is that antioxidant research is being done by real scientists in real labs, in both private enterprise and at leading universities and teaching hospitals.

Information on antioxidants and the ongoing research into their applications can fill a good-sized library, and more is being learned all the time. Your best bet is to stick with the news that is being reported by responsible, mainstream journalists, notwithstanding the occasional media bias against treatments that are portrayed as being “alternative” or “complementary.”

Read broadly, think clearly, ask questions of your doctor and always look for the original sources for any claims about the power of antioxidants. There are many reasons for hope, and the role of antioxidants in fighting both disease and the cell degradation that we call “again” is just starting to become clear. The next several years should see some amazing applications for antioxidant therapy, so stay tuned.

Chemical and Biological Species in Drinking Waters

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

The formula of water molecule is written as H2O, but only distilled water has this structure. Rain water, snow and ice are quite similar to distilled water. Water presents in nature contains, even if in traces, minerals very important for our health: salt and oligoelements dissolved during its way through the soil or it’s flowing in rocky streams. Calcium is one of the most common elements on the earth. It is essential in our body for teeth and bones formation, blood coagulation, right functioning of our nervous system. Calcium ions are contained in almost all spring, drinking water. Health effects caused by hard water, very rich in calcium and magnesium, are unknown. An excess in calcium can alter the water taste or cause scaling problems in pipes and household appliances. If we use a device for the reduction of the content of calcium and magnesium ions dissolved in water, it is important to see that the calcium content never goes under 60 mg/l.

Magnesium together with sodium and calcium is among the cations most commonly found in drinking water. In humans magnesium is important for many metabolic functions and for muscular and nervous activity. Its daily recommended intake is 150-500 mg. Sodium is an element very diffused on earth and in the biosphere, even if in nature it is almost never in its pure form, but mainly in form of salt (NaCl). Our body contains an average of 100 g of sodium which is an important metabolic regulator for nervous and muscular stimulations. The daily sodium chlorine intake is 20 mg. Due to our diet very rich in salt it is recommended to drink water with a sodic content lower than 20 mg/l, particularly for hypertensive people and children. The salt consumption in industrialized countries is considered much higher than the recommended levels (about 3.9 g/day on average). Drinking 2 litres of water containing 20 mg/l of sodium one reaches 40 mg that is about the 5% of the total intake. To reduce the daily sodium intake it would be more logical to change our nutrition: i.e. to eat only integral sea salt, more equilibrate and rich in mineral salts at home, and to avoid precooked food, always rich in refined salt.

Chromium is an important oligoelement for our organism, on condition that certain concentration is not exceeded and the element is not found in toxic or carcinogenic combinations that are always due to industrial pollution. At present there is no recommended daily intake limit for this element. Copper is an essential element for our health, but it is toxic at high concentration. A daily intake of 1.2 mg is recommended. Copper pollution in water can originate form copper pipes corrosion by soft, acidic water. Food rich in iron is very important, particularly for children and women in fertile age. The recommended daily intake is 10 mg. Iron is usually contained in low amount in drinking water. The WHO recommend a maximum of 0.3 mg/l the EEC of 0.2 mg/l. possible increasing (lower than 200 mg/l) are not to be considered harmful, even if they make the water not nice to drink and give an unpleasant reddish colour.

Chlorine is an important constituent of organic liquid and a daily intake of 7-15 g of NaCl is recommended. Food usually covers the recommended daily intake of 2-3 mg. An excessive concentration in water is not necessarily harmful, but originates the same problems as iron (unpleasant taste and colour). Though selenium is considered a toxic element when taken is high dosage, it is an important anti-oxidant as it is useful to attack free radicals for preventing aging. Its recommended daily intake by EEC is 40 picog. A possible lack of selenium can increase the risk of tumour and cardiovascular diseases.

In the opinion of many scientists fluorine is useful for the good health of bones and teeth, sometimes it is even essential, in others opinion it is unnecessary when you are adult. Fluorine is a halogen and the most electronegative of all the elements, so it reacts easily with most of the elements. In 1945 the addition of fluorine in drinking water began to be experimented in New York State, followed by Australia and some areas in UK, with the declared purpose of preventing dental caries in population. Water fluorination is prohibited in Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands and France; in Spain and Germany local authorities handle every decision and in Italy there is no specific law on this matter.

Fluorine’s useful values for our body are very close to toxic values, so a dispense not aimed and personalized  can cause high risk of overdosing and chronicle poisoning, with consequent skeleton deformation, spots on tooth enamel, osteosclerosis, neurological disorders, damages on the thyroids and even generation of tumours. According to some research, 10% of fluoride doesn’t deposit in teeth and bones, but harms kidneys. Fluorine has negative effects on the central nervous system, determining behaviour alterations, cognitive deficit, influencing on the foetus development even in concentration not harmful for the mother. The calcium fluoride presents in nature is very different from the sodium-silica-fluoride (Na2SiF6) added in drinking water, an industrial waste that is toxic and difficult to digest. People who are against fluorination of drinking water argue that it is a violence that does not count individual choice freedom, not to mention the individual tolerance limit.

Many toxic minerals are contained in water supplies, usually at high levels due to which treatment and potabilisation plants work to reduce these minerals to safe levels. Minerals can enter surface or ground water through natural sources, industrial sewage, and leakage from urban or agricultural areas, water pipes walls or even from domestic sources. The list of organic substances that one can find in industrial applications is exhaustive. Several of the inorganic species and their organic partners have been identified to be offending and disturbing species due to their complexation and chelation behaviour.

Phosphate in water originates from detergents and fertilisation and a level higher than 0.1 mg/l indicates pollution. Flora and fauna, very sensitive to phosphate presence, are the main victims. Sulphates are sulphuric acid salts combined with metallic ions. Water can naturally contain small quantities of sulphates, but they are mostly transferred in water bodies from the atmosphere and in the atmosphere form road traffic, industries and energy production. Sulphur oxidised in the air can come back on the soil as acid rain, causing serious environmental problems. Nitrates are the main source of nitrogen for plants and an essential constituent for nucleic acids and amino acids. A nitrates’ water content of about 10 mg/l is considered normal and natural. Its higher concentration is due to human operations (mauring and air pollution due to transportation. The problems resulting from excessive nitrate presence are due to the toxicity of nitrate for human body as nitrates are transformed in nitrites or in carcinogenic nitrosamines.

Though aluminium is very abundant on the earth, it is not important for human nutrition rather aluminium can have toxic effects even in small quantities. These effects occur in nervous system, but health effects originating from aluminium intake through water are still on debate. Aluminium concentration is usually lower than 200 mg/l in drinking water. If one drinks 1.5 litre of water per day, his/her daily intake from water is lower than 300 mg/day, a negligible amount if compared with the amount taken by nutrition (10-20 mg/day). There is no evidence that the aluminium assimilated through water is more soluble and more easily digestible, than the aluminium contained in food. Due to all these uncertainties at present there are no rules about its allowed concentration limits in drinking water, though the WHO recommends a concentration lower than 20 mg/l.

While arsenic can be toxic even in low amounts, the arsenic contained in food (amounts ranging from 0.01 to 1.5 mg/kg of dry weight) has a different influence: it carries out some positive metabolic function for our body. Its toxicity is strongly linked on the concentration. Lead is toxic even in small amounts for micro-organisms, interfering with haemoglobin formation and with the functionality of central nervous system. Lead is particularly harmful for children, who can suffer long term neurological and behavioural disorders. Major lead sources are paint, vehicle emissions, food and water. The European Directive about drinking water for human consumption 98/93/EC states that the maximum allowed lead concentration in drinking water should decrease from the actual 50 mg/l to 10 mg/l within 25 December 2013. The problem in Italy is that many pipes contain lead and acidic soft water, with low phosphate content. If this water lingers for long time in the pipes it can adsorb lead. Some precautions can be taken to lower lead content in drinking water:

We should flush the water before drinking it, since lingering water in pipes tends to accumulate more lead; to avoid water dissipation it is recommended to collect the flushed water in bottles and tanks for some subsequent uses. We must refrain from using hot tap water for cooking, since hot waters dissolve lead more easily than cold water. We should try to periodically remove clinker and slag from the pipes and use suitable ways for lead removal.

Cadmium, a highly toxic heavy metal, is considered carcinogen. Its harmful action is similar to the effect of lead and it can be released in drinking water by zinced iron pipes as Zinc always contains a small amount of cadmium. Mercury can or can not be toxic, depending on its chemical bonds. The WHO recommends that a daily intake of 0.3 mg/day for a 60 kg person may be considered under safe limits. Mercury can be released in ground water or in surface water by industrial waste water discharge in rivers and estuaries, by leakage from toxic landfill, by mercury emissions from volcanoes, seismic underground activity, incineration and fossil fuels combustion. The mercury released in the atmosphere is very light, so it can reach long distances from the source and fall again on the soil through rain, entering water bodies. However mercury is not commonly found as pollutant in our drinking water.

Asbestos can reach drinking water through natural sources, pipes built in a compound made of concrete and asbestos and from atmosphere. Hard water seems to bring to a lower asbestos loss compared to water poor in salts, which is much more corrosive. At present chlorination is the most used treatment to remove water bacteria which could cause health problems. The Italian law allows 30 mg/l of chlorine, while the guidelines of the European Directive indicate 1 mg/l and specify that the concentration should be as low as possible. According to international research the consumption of water containing compounds formed after the reaction between chlorine and microorganisms (trihalomethanes) can contribute to the increase of huro-genital tumours.

If you smell the chlorine odour typical of swimming pools when you open the tap, it is recommended to pour the water in a large tank and to leave it open or semi-open for about half an hour. Chlorine is in fact very volatile and tends to still on the water surface. To accelerate chlorine dispersion we can pour the water from a tank to another repetitively or mix very quickly.

Numerous organic compounds directly originate from plant or animal matter. For instance plastics are chemical organic compounds made of petrol, which originates from plants and animals.
Nowadays there are more than 100.000 chemical organic compounds, which include synthetic fertilizers, pesticides,  herbicides, paints, dyes, flavours and pharmaceutical substances. Most of these compounds are toxic and many have been found in water reservoirs. VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) are very dangerous, because they are adsorbed by the skin in contact with the water carrying them. If chlorine used for the water disinfection is in contact with these chemical organic compounds, the carcinogens trihalomethanes can form.

Phyto-pharmaceutical products are the most accused substances for ground water pollution. Here it will not be proper to spend too much time in the description of their use and abuse, but everybody should know cases of closed wells. Even if ground water pollution stopped immediately, an impossible thing to happen, it would take a long to soil and water to recover. Not very much is known about the harms of compounds of phyto-pharmaceuctics, but metabolites can be much more toxic than water.

Surfactants are the substances used in detergents to lower the surface tension of the water by allowing it to wet the clothes better. We all use substances containing surfactants, which are responsible for the pollution of the water we drink. They are also in cosmetics, anti freezing products, glues and colouring species. We can contribute to the reduction of this pollution source by using only the minimum necessary quantity or choosing biodegradable surfactants.

Microorganisms include bacteria, virus and parasite. Bacteria are carefully monitored in public water supplies, since they can be responsible for many health problems and their presence can be easily detected. Bacteria are easily killed by adding chlorine. Viruses are very abundant in water supplies as well. They are much more difficult to detect. Most viruses are killed by chlorination, and most of the viruses carried by water are too week to be harmful for humans. The third group of microorganisms commonly found in water are parasite. They are very resistant and can be found in tap water even if a treatment system is present. When drinking water has to be carried along long distances, the problem of a possible pollution occurs. This pollution can happen through the contact of water with porous surfaces or synthetic materials that are an ideal media for microorganisms. The risk occurs particularly in showers or Jacuzzis. The ideal environment for the bacteria of legionella phneumofila is included between 37 and 45 C.

Women Emancipation Real Or Imaginary?

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

The Vatican voices the opinion that washing machines have been the driving force and the source of emancipation for woman. Yet millions of women in Eastern and Asian countries live under male domination. They are little more than chattels belonging to their husbands. This includes countries such as

• Afghanistan,
• Saudi Arabia,
• Indonesia,
• India,
• Malaysia,
• China
• Egypt,
• Pakistan,
• The Moslem countries of the Middle East,
• Many African nations and
• Even tropical islands such as Vanuatu.

Millions of women live being denied access to education, consigned to the house, all freedom of expression strictly curtailed, dress codes rigidly enforced, the liberty to speak freely with men not allowed and a general disapproval of women being found in any position of authority.

However, in the not too distant past, girls were not encouraged to gain a higher education, even in Western society. After all girls were only going to loll around and maybe work for a few years, before getting married and were forced to stay at home to care for the family. Why bother wasting a university education on them?

What then has brought about the dramatic change where many feel women in the Western world have become liberated? Was it really the washing machine, as the Vatican recently said, that made the difference?

Equal opportunity for women has freed many women, allowing them to take a major role in Western society. This was brought about through:

•Germaine Greer and ‘the burn the bra’ movement
•The pill and the availability of safe abortions
•Anti discrimination laws both in the work place and in education
•Child minding and day care facilities, backed by the government, have allowed mums to continue as working-mums

The anonymity and world-wide reach of the Internet and Cyber Space has been another major contributing factor. Women can now work from home, but if they choose, then can be sexless and nameless.

However, the pendulum may have swung too far, with many antifeminist supporters stating the feminist movement is seeking a higher status for women than for men. Serious conventional academics like Carolyn Graglia and Allan Carlson insists that the alteration to women’s role, from being firstly mothers, to self-classified professionals, has brought about a social disaster that continues to take its toll on the family.

Some believe there is now anti-male discrimination in the areas of reproductive rights, child custody, alimony and property division, particularly in messy divorce settlements. Antifeminists are swift to point out the increase in divorce and the breakdown of family relationships, as being caused by the influence of the feminist movement.

Still there are feminists who say, “I would rather cook a meal for a man and bring him his slippers and feel myself in the protection of his arms than have all the citations and awards and honors I have received worldwide, including the Ribbon of Legion of Honor and my property and my bank accounts. They mean nothing to me. And I am only one among the millions of sad women like myself”.

Other women happily promote the role of the business woman, women as leader models, as well encouraging women into competitive environments, in spite of the fact that women sometimes receive ‘special treatment’ in the nature of a lower level of physical requirements in some professions, such as rescue services and the military.

In the end though, it is going to be neither the male domination, nor the feminist, nor anti feminist movements, that make a difference to families in the generations to come, but the legalization of same sex marriages. The world is changing dramatically for both men and women.

Outpatient Drug Rehab Houston Texas

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

Houston residents are faced with an extreme drug and alcohol problem and Narconon Arrowhead wants to do its part to help. Offering drug education lectures, Narconon has been able to reach many Houston residents, teaching them about the dangers of drugs and alcohol. The barriers one may face when suffering from addiction are not only addiction to drugs or alcohol; such things as not being able to hold a job, be there for the family, or be a stable member of society are also barriers that addicts face.

It is true that finding a rehab program can be challenging. Everyday people are searching for the answers to beat a substance abuse addiction. This could be the addicted person themselves, the mother or father, the grandparents, the children, or the employer. The task of finding an effective program usually falls in the hands of a loved one in order to save the addict from complete destruction. Often the only way the person will ever get clean and sober is if a friend or family member takes charge of the situation.

Many individuals who need substance abuse rehabilitation no longer recognize how to be socially interactive with their environment. They need to learn the tools necessary to overcome these obstacles and return to society as productive members doing their part to handle the drug addiction issues. Houston residents need to unite together to accomplish and defeat the substance abuse problem that many individuals are facing in the area.

So what is being done to help its residents? Houston is mostly offering outpatient programs like meetings sponsored through several organizations to help the community’s growing drug problem. Since the only way to fight against drug and alcohol abuse is to educate, Narconon Arrowhead’s Drug Education Team has also made it a point to deliver as many drug education lectures to school aged children in the Houston area as possible over the past few years. With a growing community and an increasing number of drug trafficker’s, we need to unite together now as it is a very hard fight.

Drug trafficking is huge in the Houston area especially since it’s so close to Mexico where drugs can be purchased for cheap.  Massive amounts of marijuana, heroin, and cocaine are transported across the border everyday from Mexico into the United States by Mules (drug traffickers) who then sell the drugs for higher prices here in the states. Houston residents are suffering because of the high availability of drugs in the area and the only way to prevent more of epidemic is to stop the drug use and trafficking right now.

If you or someone you love is struggling with substance abuse and are searching for outpatient drug rehab in Houston Texas, call Narconon Arrowhead today. Narconon Arrowhead is one of the world’s largest and most effective inpatient drug rehabilitation and education programs with a success rate of over 70% of those who graduate. Narconon Arrowhead offers free addiction counseling, free assessments, and referrals to the residents in Houston Texas.

To locate a Houston inpatient drug rehab or find out information about drug abuse prevention contact Narconon Arrowhead by calling 1-800-468-6933 or visit our website at  www.stopaddiction.com

Boulevard of Broken Dreams; A Nelena One-Shot [with xNelenaWriterx]

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

[STORY IN HERE!!!] I walked down the street in complete silence; the only noise I made was coming from my torn up, old, worn out, muddy, brown boots trudging along the cement. As I looked around I noticed small children, who must have been by the ages of five to eight, playing merrily with each other on their front yards. They wore huge smiles, and lit up eyes which soon disappeared when they saw me; their eyes widened; all the happiness and laughter vanishing away. Instead, curiosity …

Sleep Secrets: Get the Good Night Sleep You Deserve

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

There are few things in life as satisfying as a good night’s sleep. Mothers insist on it to help children grow well, doctors advise it for optimum health, and beauty gurus recommend it to stay younger and feel better. Thus, it is important to get the good night sleep you deserve.

Ironically, however, this supposedly natural body phenomenon proves impossible to achieve for many people. If you have sleeping disorders and you find it hard to get the good night sleep you deserve, you are not alone. A report by the U.S. National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke reveals that about 40 million people suffer from chronic long-term sleep disorders each year.

Sleeping disorders are generally classified into three categories: lack of sleep (e.g. insomnia), disturbed sleep (e.g. sleep apnea or the obstruction of airways during sleep), and excessive sleep (e.g. narcolepsy, the condition of falling asleep spontaneously and unwillingly).

If you regularly cannot get the good night sleep you deserve, then you might have a chronic sleep disorder. Some sleep disorders are chronic, brought about by deep medical or psychiatric conditions. Others occur occasionally and are only temporary, cured easily by eliminating the root cause of sleep deficit.  Common causes of sleep disorders are lifestyle changes, work-related stress, and prescription drugs that disrupt sleeping patterns.

People with sleeping disorders are typically given medications or advised to undergo behavioral or psychotherapeutic treatments to treat their condition.  While medications (such as sleeping pills) provide easy and immediate relief, they don’t exactly give you the good night sleep you deserve and don’t eliminate the root of a sleep deficit.

So before you pop that pill, remember that much can be done to win the fight against sleepless nights.  Here are some tips to get the good night sleep you deserve – either before you hit the hay or as you lay in bed frustrated.

One way to get the good night sleep you deserve is to figure out how much you need. A good night’s sleep varies from one person to another.  Infants sleep most of the day (about 16 hours); teenagers usually need about 9 hours a day; and adults need an average of 7 to 8 hours a day.  The key is to keep track of the total number of hours you spent sleeping.  For two weeks, take note of how many hours you spend in the sack, including naps.  Calculate the average sleep you get in twenty-four hours.  If you get, say, six hours, spend six-and-a-half hours in bed, to allow for time to fall asleep.

Another way to get the good night sleep you deserve is develop a pre-sleep routine.  Every night, before you hit the sheets, perform a specific “wind-down” ritual.  Read a book, do yoga stretches, listen to calm music – anything that helps you de-stress.  A nighttime routine will create an association with sleep that your body will respond to automatically. This routine will help you get the good night sleep you deserve.

Use your bed wisely.  Try to avoid non-sleeping activities in bed, such as watching television or balancing your bankbook.  These activities will not help you get the good night sleep you deserve. Use it only for sleeping, and sex. Doing this will send subconscious cues to your brain that will help it associate the bed with sleeping.

Take a steamy shower.  A drop in core body temperature prepares your body for sleep.  So an hour before bedtime, take a warm shower or relax in the bathtub.  Once you’ve cooled down, your body will be set for slumber and you will get the good night sleep you deserve.

Keep off the uppers.  Coffee, cigarettes and alcohol are some of the stuffs you definitely need to avoid before going to bed.  They may relax and help you fall asleep, but when the effect wears off they can cause fragmented sleep during the remainder of the night. If you want to get the good night sleep you deserve, avoid coffee, alcohol and cigarettes. So hold off the “nightcap” and do not drink alcohol within six hours of bedtime.  If you must smoke, have your last cigarette at least three hours before going to bed.  Coffee should also be avoided after 3 p.m.

Wear an eye mask.  Strapping an eye mask on will help blot out miniscule light sources such as the red LCD screen of your alarm clock or the dim glow of the computer screensaver.  These miniscule light sources are surprising sleep obstructions, which your brain can detect even when your eyes are closed. These things will deprive you from the good night sleep you deserve.

Count sheep.  The old adage about “counting sheep” (or any other animal, for that matter) really works, because it helps you focus on a series of ascending or descending numbers which in turn keeps your brain too busy to focus on anxious thoughts.  Adding a visual image (such as the sheep hopping over a fence or walking down a flight of stairs while counting) can give you the sense that you’re moving deeper and deeper into slumber. This will help you get the good night sleep you deserve.

Melt muscle tension to help you get the good night sleep you deserve.  When you are anxious, your nervous system goes into overdrive and tenses you up all over.  To remove the tension, imagine it dissolving slowly through your toes.  Then, move on to the stress on your calves, all the way to the top of your head.  By the time you’re done, you’ll feel physically “looser” and primed for dreamland and you are on your way to get the good night sleep you deserve.

If the above tips are not enough to get the good night sleep you deserve, don’t lose hope. Do you want to learn how you can double your energy levels and naturally transform your body into a restful sleep magnet? You will learn how you too can easily master the natural art of energizing sleep and finally break free from daytime drowsiness once and for all! Adolescent Accusation – II

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

Suffice it to say that in safeguarding the rights of the children, the task of middling possibly will not be unobserved. They can spotlight the mistreated children who are living further than scarcity and sprinkled at this point and even in isolated places. Due to deficiency and undersized socio-economic factors in the country, the children are lying deserted and are obligated to appoint themselves in blameworthy profession like suppliant, light-fingered and pick-pocketing etc., and in this connection it is distinguished that ours is a budding country and the rate of child labour is ever-increasing day by day. The only rationale is illiteracy and poverty for which we are losing bright manpower every time. The respective media should explore such neglected talents and should create the awareness for the wealthy people who have capacity to educate them. The government should hunt and accumulate them for their best schooling for which the proper citizen of the country will be urbanized in a systematic manner. The States Parties of the world should discriminate the right of a child who has been placed by the competent authorities for the purposes of care, fortification or handling of his or her physical or mental health, to a intermittent review of the dealing provided to the child and all other circumstances applicable to his or her assignment. In UN charter, it has been stated that the States Parties should recognize for every child the right to assistance from social safekeeping, including social indemnity and should take the necessary measures to accomplish the full awareness of this right in harmony with their general law.

It has been stated the States Parties should esteem the right of the child who is estranged from one or both parents to preserve personal relations and direct contact with both parents on a regular basis, except if it is contrary to the child’s best interests. Where such separation results from any action initiated by a State Party, such as the detention, imprisonment, exile, deportation or death (including death arising from any cause while the person is in the custody of the State) of one or both parents or of the child, that State Party should, upon request, provide the parents, the child or, if appropriate, another member of the family with the essential information concerning the whereabouts of the absent member(s) of the family unless the provision of the information would be detrimental to the well-being of the child. States Parties should further ensure that the submission of such a request should of itself entail no adverse consequences for the person concerned. To comprehend how women executive in higher-ranking levels in organisations in the world distinguish their roles, how they feel they are being perceived and what strategies they currently use to ensure their effectiveness within their organizations, Louise Coyle, a renowned economist, conducted a research in 1996 on the role of in a developing country and her research phenomena she accomplished that these women worked within the establishment of their own organisation, indeed they were part of the establishment and as such would not overtly acknowledge that discrimination takes place. In a survey of corporate men and women, Hennig and Jardim, distinguished economists concluded the idea in 1996 in the sense that the male and female do have different beliefs, attitude and assumptions about themselves and each other, and about organisations and managerial careers. These differences result in female styles, emphases and responses that are functional for success in management.

It may be pointed out that Valerie Hammond & Vicki Holton stated that in 1984, 41% of the workforces were women (9.5 millions women) in the UK; by 1991 this had risen to 44% or 11 million employees. Twenty eight per cent of all working women held an executive or professional position. A survey by the British Institute of Management found that the number of companies employing women executives increased from 49% in 1986 to 64% in 1990. In the same period the proportion of women directors grew from 4% to 8%. But there are no women chief executives among Britain’s top 100 companies as listed in the Times 1000.Roger Young, the institute’s Director-General said “Men are the key hurdle to women in supervision. Despite some growth, old- fashioned sexist attitude are still common and represent a real, not an imagined, barrier. After analysis of women manager’s statistics of some developed country’s Louise Coyle (1996) concluded that gender discrimination and segregation crosses geographical boundaries and cultures. Women managers face the same discrimination worldwide. Patricia G. Steimhoff & kazuko Tanaka, the statistical analysis of women labour force in Japan, it was observed that, in 1990 women constitute 41% of the labour force with the important shift from the status of family worker to wage earner. By 1990 only 17% of the women in the labour force constitute either paid or unpaid family worker. They commented that, due to the peculiarity Japanese ethos of organisation in Japan women are militated against in the area of management. This is because the vast majority of managers are promoted through the ranks with in-house company training schemes. Seniority is the primary factor. Women are obviously at a decided disadvantage because they tend to have a career break after marriage. They also cited government-led commission surveyed 1497 companies in 1979 and reported that women made up 23% of the workforce but only 0.3 % held decision-making positions. In their intensive surveyed, they commented that the situation has not improved greatly over the last 20 years. Women, at present, are in inferior standing in the world of work in relation to their male counterpart. Brew and Garavan, illustrates that “Women have equality on paper, not in practice”. They concluded that structural and attitudinal barriers dispossess women of opportunity and in order to have optimal effect women-only training must be part of a comprehensive programme designed to remove each one of these barriers. In another article Ms McCarthy, E. examines inequality at a more detailed, almost anatomical level, in the areas of:

• Recruitment and hodgepodge;

• Education and advancement;

• Support;

• Assessment;

• Service arrangements.

Where a child is illegally deprived of some or all of the elements of his or her identity, States Parties should provide appropriate assistance and fortification, with a view to re-establishing speedily his or her distinctiveness. It has been stated the states Parties should make sure that a child should not be alienated from his or her parents against their spirit, except when competent authorities subject to legal appraisal to settle on, in accordance with applicable law and procedures, that such separation is necessary for the best interests of the child. Such determination may be necessary in a particular case such as one involving ill-treatment or disregard of the child by the parents, or one where the parents are living disjointedly and a resolution must be completed as to the child’s place of abode. In accordance with the obligation of States Parties under article 9, paragraph 1, applications by a child or his or her parents to enter or leave a State Party for the purpose of family reunification should be dealt with by States Parties in a positive, humane and expeditious manner. States Parties should further ensure that the submission of such a request should entail no adverse consequences for the applicants and for the members of their family. A child whose parents reside in different States should have the right to maintain on a regular basis, save in exceptional circumstances personal relations and direct contacts with both parents. Towards that end and in accordance with the obligation of States Parties under article 9, paragraph 1, States Parties should respect the right of the child and his or her parents to leave any country, including their own and to enter their own country. The right to leave any country should be subject only to such restrictions as are prescribed by law and which are necessary to protect the national security, public order public health or morals or the rights and freedoms of others and are consistent with the other rights recognized in the present Convention. It has been stated the States Parties should take measures to combat the illicit transfer and non-return of children abroad. It has been stated that to this end, States Parties should promote the conclusion of bilateral or multilateral agreements or accession to existing agreements. It has been stated the states Parties should assure to the child who is capable of forming his or her own views the right to express those views freely in all matters affecting the child, the views of the child being given due weight in accordance with the age and maturity of the child. It has been stated that for this purpose, the child should in particular be provided the opportunity to be heard in any judicial and administrative proceedings affecting the child, either directly, or through a representative or an appropriate body, in a manner consistent with the procedural rules of national law.

It has been stated the child should have the right to freedom of expression; this right should include freedom to seek, receive and impart information and ideas of all kinds, regardless of frontiers, either orally, in writing or in print, in the form of art, or through any other media of the child’s choice. The exercise of this right may be subject to certain restrictions, but these should only be such as are provided by law and are necessary:

 For deference of the rights or name of others; or

 For the security of general safekeeping or of community order or of public wellbeing or morals.

It has been stated the states Parties should respect the right of the child to self-determination of contemplation, scruples and religion. It has been stated the states Parties should value the rights and duties of the parents and, when appropriate, legal guardians, to offer track to the child in the exercise of his or her right in a manner consistent with the evolving capacities of the child. It has been stated the freedom to manifest one’s religion or beliefs may be subject only to such limitations as are prescribed by law and are necessary to protect public safety, order, health or morals, or the fundamental rights and freedoms of others. It has been stated the states Parties recognize the rights of the child to freedom of association and to freedom of peaceful assembly. It has been stated the no restrictions may be placed on the exercise of these rights other than those imposed in conformity with the law and which are necessary in a democratic society in the interests of national security or public safety, public order (ordre public), the protection of public health or morals or the protection of the rights and freedoms of others. It has been stated the no child should be subjected to arbitrary or unlawful interference with his or her privacy, family, home or correspondence, or to unlawful attacks on his or her honour and reputation. It has been stated the child has the right to the protection of the law against such interference or attacks. It has been stated the states Parties recognize the important function performed by the mass media and should ensure that the child has access to information and material from a diversity of national and international sources, especially those aimed at the promotion of his or her social, spiritual and moral well-being and physical and mental health. To this end, States Parties should:

To prop up the accumulation intermediate to disseminate information and material of social and cultural benefit to the child and in accordance with the spirit of article 29;

To give confidence international co-operation in the production, exchange and dissemination of such information and material from a diversity of cultural, national and international sources;

To hearten the production and dissemination of children’s books;

To support the mass media to have particular regard to the linguistic needs of the child who belongs to a minority group or who is indigenous;

To egg on the development of appropriate guidelines for the protection of the child from information and material injurious to his or her well-being; we should bear in mind the provisions of articles 13 and 18.

It has been stated that the states Parties should use their best efforts to ensure acknowledgment of the standard that both parents have common household tasks for the education and expansion of the child. Parents or, as the case may be, legal guardians, have the primary responsibility for the upbringing and development of the child. The best interests of the child will be their basic concern. It has been stated that for the purpose of guaranteeing and promoting the rights set forth in the present Convention, States Parties should render appropriate assistance to parents and legal guardians in the performance of their child-rearing responsibilities and should ensure the development of institutions, facilities and services for the care of children. It has been stated the states Parties should take all appropriate measures to ensure that children of working parents have the right to benefit from child-care services and facilities for which they are eligible.

It has been stated that the States Parties should take all appropriate legislative, administrative, social and educational measures to protect the child from all forms of physical or mental violence, injury or abuse, neglect or negligent treatment, maltreatment or exploitation, including sexual abuse, while in the care of parent(s), legal guardian(s) or any other person who has the care of the child. Such protective measures should, as appropriate, include effective procedures for the establishment of social programmes to provide necessary support for the child and for those who have the care of the child, as well as for other forms of prevention and for identification, reporting, referral, investigation, treatment and follow-up of instances of child maltreatment described heretofore, and, as appropriate, for judicial involvement. A child temporarily or permanently deprived of his or her family environment, or in whose own best interests cannot be allowed to remain in that environment, should be entitled to special protection and assistance provided by the State.

It has been stated that the states Parties should in accordance with their national laws ensure alternative care for such a child.

Such care could include, inter alia, foster placement, adoption or if necessary placement in suitable institution for the care of children. When considering solutions, due regard should be paid to the desirability of continuity in a child’s upbringing and to the child’s ethnic, religious, cultural and linguistic background.

It has been stated the states Parties that recognize and/or permit the system of adoption should ensure that the best interests of the child should be the paramount consideration and they should: To ensure that the adoption of a child is authorized only by competent authorities who determine, in accordance with applicable law and procedures and on the basis of all pertinent and reliable information, that the adoption is permissible in view of the child’s status concerning parents, relatives and legal guardians and that, if required, the persons concerned have given their informed consent to the adoption on the basis of such counseling as may be necessary to recognize that inter-country adoption may be considered as an alternative means of child’s care, if the child cannot be placed in a foster or an adoptive family or cannot in any suitable manner be cared for in the child’s country of origin to ensure that the child concerned by inter-country adoption enjoys safeguards and standards equivalent to those existing in the case of national adoption to take all appropriate measures to ensure that, in inter-country adoption, the placement does not result in improper financial gain for those involved in it to support, where appropriate, the objectives of the present article by concluding bilateral or multilateral arrangements or agreements and endeavour, within this framework, to ensure that the placement of the child in another country is carried out by competent authorities or organs.

It has been stated that the States Parties should take suitable actions to ensure that a child who is seeking immigrant status or who is measured a migrant in accordance with applicable international or domestic law and procedures should, whether unaccompanied or accompanied by his or her parents or by any other person, receive appropriate protection and humanitarian assistance in the enjoyment of applicable rights set forth in the present Convention and in other international human rights or humanitarian instruments to which the said States are Parties. For this purpose, States Parties should provide, as they consider appropriate, co-operation in any efforts by the United Nations and other competent intergovernmental organizations or non-governmental organizations co-operating with the United Nations to protect and assist such a child and to trace the parents or other members of the family of any refugee child in order to obtain information necessary for reunification with his or her family. In cases where no parents or other members of the family can be found, the child should be accorded the same protection as any other child permanently or temporarily deprived of his or her family environment for any reason, as set forth in the present Convention.

It has been stated that the States Parties make a distinction that a emotionally or in the flesh render inoperative child should enjoy a full and decent life, in conditions which ensure dignity, promote self-reliance and facilitate the child’s active participation in the community. States Parties recognize the right of the disabled child to special care and should cheer and ensure the lean-to, subject to available resources, to the eligible child and those responsible for his or her care, of assistance for which application is made and which is appropriate to the child’s condition and to the circumstances of the parents or others caring for the child. 3. We should bear in mind the special needs of a disabled child, assistance extended in accordance with paragraph 2 of the present article should be provided free of charge, whenever possible, taking into account the financial resources of the parents or others caring for the child and should be designed to ensure that the disabled child has effective access to and receives education, training, health care services, rehabilitation services, preparation for employment and recreation opportunities in a manner conducive to the child’s achieving the fullest possible social integration and individual development, including his or her cultural and spiritual development States Parties should promote, in the spirit of international cooperation, the exchange of appropriate information in the field of preventive health care and of medical, psychological and functional treatment of disabled children, including dissemination of and access to information concerning methods of rehabilitation, education and vocational services, with the aim of enabling States Parties to improve their capabilities and skills and to widen their experience in these areas. In this regard, particular account should be taken of the needs of developing countries. The benefits should, where appropriate, be granted, taking into account the resources and the circumstances of the child and persons having responsibility for the maintenance of the child, as well as any other consideration relevant to an application for benefits made by or on behalf of the child. It has been stated that the States Parties recognize the right of every child to a standard of living adequate for the child’s physical, mental, spiritual, moral and social development. The parent(s) or others responsible for the child have the primary responsibility to secure, within their abilities and financial capacities, the conditions of living necessary for the child’s development. It has been stated that the States Parties, in accordance with national conditions and within their means, should take appropriate measures to assist parents and others responsible for the child to implement this right and should in case of need provide material assistance and support programmes, particularly with regard to nutrition, clothing and housing.

It has been stated that the States Parties recognize the right of the child to the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of health and to facilities for the treatment of illness and rehabilitation of health. States Parties should strive to ensure that no child is deprived of his or her right of access to such health care services and it is evident that they should pursue full implementation of this right and, in particular, should take appropriate measures:

To diminish infant and child mortality;

To ensure the provision of necessary medical assistance and health care to all children with emphasis on the development of primary health care;

To combat disease and malnutrition, including within the framework of primary health care, through, inter alia, the application of readily available technology and through the provision of adequate nutritious foods and clean drinking-water, taking into consideration the dangers and risks of environmental pollution;

To ensure appropriate pre-natal and post-natal health care for mothers;

To ensure that all segments of society, in particular parents and children, are informed, have access to education and are supported in the use of basic knowledge of child health and nutrition, the advantages of breastfeeding, hygiene and environmental sanitation and the prevention of accidents;

To develop preventive health care, guidance for parents and family planning education and services. States Parties should take all effective and appropriate measures with a view to abolishing traditional practices prejudicial to the health of children.

States Parties undertake to promote and encourage international co-operation with a view to achieving progressively the full realization of the right recognized in the present article. In this regard, particular account should be taken of the needs of developing countries.

From the above viewpoint, it is clear that a child is only a child, not a boy, not a girl. If we look around the world, we will find that there is no difference between men and women because they are equally positioned in the society in respect of education, social customs, research and ruling the country and in this respect, we should not disseminate a child being neglected and rather, the social force should pick such contribution to develop them in a proper way. We should not hate a child being a beggar or a maid servant. We should educate them and the authority should come forward to help them by providing hierarchical needs in question. It has been seen even, in many families, good behaviour is reflected towards them. Even, they are very much careful about building their moral and institutional shapes. In our country, many children are passing their lives miserably and the adversities know no bounds. In order to remove such bottleneck against developing, the society should come forward with a definitive purpose to settle them in a healthy environment so that they can flourish themselves in a befitting manner. There is no doubt that due to lack of proper education and good environment specifically who are living in slums, may be involved in immoral activities like thieving, robbing, snatching and terrorism. In order to amend them from being fallen, the society should rehabilate them in a proper way, if necessity the media can create awareness in this respect. In order to love the child, one should have feelings of responsibilities regarding patience, forgiveness, good bahaviour and affection. In this connection I am quoting a few lines of poems as composed by me.

“Like the dew drops falling on the grass

Glittering in the dazzling rays of the sun

She has smiles dramatic all over the world

To give impression of love at the amazing sky.

She knows no indulgence even any discord

Not even banned certainty laid the blame on,

She is clear like the shower of rain;

Who has weapons to banish the insignificant change?

She has eyes all around in the dark cloud

Like the flies to clasp in the world so high;

To eliminate shyness, murky and evils of mind,

To gather significant change of life.

Like the roses, she is scattering every side

To pact a series of beams in the sun,

To scatter the light of knowledge and skills

To inform the world that precision exists.

Her jollity reflecting like the light of the moon

To have bustling the world forthwith change

In quicker form to survive on earth

Telling of fraternity, love and peace.”

Natural Colon Cleanse Solutions – Mother Nature’s Way of Helping You Stay Healthy

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

There are plenty of natural procedures that can be done in very simple ways using the home colon cleanse packs that are available and waiting for you to pick them up. If you are in the market looking for solutions for doing a detoxification, be informed that there are many ways to achieve your goal without much ado. The market is flooded with many herbal solutions, some of which can be administered personally in the comfort of your own home. Take advantage and get all the information you need to take a step.

A cleansing diet

For those who love doing things in Mother Nature’s way without interference of any herbal mixtures, there is an available alternative that involves lifestyle choices. You simply have to choose natural nutritious foods. A colon cleanse diet will include a great amount of fresh fruit and vegetables as they are high in fiber and they as well stimulate the digestive system to begin a natural cleansing process. When it comes to hydrating yourself you need to take generous amounts of water only as well as other natural high fiber whole foods and there you are towards having a clean colon.

These are not those days that are gone by when a colon cleanse required that you don’t move from home and pitch camp next to the bathroom while the different medications went through your entire system. Today there are herbal mixtures that have been formulated and you no longer have to pas loose stools. There are simply no surprises of a steady flow of toxins leaving your body high and dry. This has the advantage of not interfering with your normal day to day routine.

Advantage of a home cleansing

With a practical procedure that can be managed by yourself you do not get to stop all the regular things you do and you can comfortably leave your home to do other errands that you must do. For any home detoxification you need to drink plenty of water because while you are clearing up the mess in your colon, you want to avoid being dehydrated as this can harden the stools and make them hard and painful to pass. Take about I glass of water every 30 minutes during the procedure so as to keep the flow uninterrupted.

Conclusion

When you successfully complete a home colon cleanse you will feel more energized, lose weight, regain the total use of your colon once again and keep your body free from toxins that have otherwise been eliminated by the system but are staying in illegally. With so many diseases being caused by malfunctioning colon you need to benefit from this important procedure. Invest your time in reading some literature that will give you complete knowledge of this procedure and enjoy a disease free life.
