okay, so here i go.
my mom’s smokes crack.
she’s done a lot of drug’s in her lifetime, she started at age 27.because she got with my brother’s dad who USED to sell weed, and do coke, acid,heroin, and other drug’s.
well she used to do those thing’s too.
When i was little like ages five(maybe) to ten..i lived with my aunt off and on.
and when i didn’t live with my mom, i’d live with my aunt.
she forced me to go to church, not that i didn’t enjoy it..it’s just you just can’t force someone to go to church like that..it makes thing’s worse…at times.
but anyway’s..i’m 14 now, and i’ve lived with my mom maybe 6 or 7 year’s of my life…because she’s addicted to drug’s..well crack.
she’s on methadone..which a drug well a medicine you take so you don’t pop pills and do drug’s and drink, (she used to pop pills..such as Vicodin, Oxycotten, and those sort of thinks! she’s OD’d off of soma three times..twice with a tube down her throat, close to dying) and she still smokes crack, when i was little she went to rehab for 18 day’s but then got out because she missed her family so much, which i don’t understand if she can continuously put me and my brother through her smoking crack and me and him not living/seeing her .
anyway’s she’s STILL Smoking crack..and she’s 36 turning 37 next month.
well she keeps saying she’s going to rehab..well has to…because she got caught with Crack in her car..while driving in suspended.
well anyway’s keeps saying i’m done with it..and right now..she is gone..out smoking crack once again, knowone knows where she is.
i’m very worried though, and i cant do this anymore..i feel like i’m breaking down..because my mom is all i can think about since i found out she’s out smoking crack.
i’m scared, i don’t know what to do..?

I have got 2 7wk old kittens, i’ve had them 2 days. The person we got them from was only leaving dry food out for them and they were still getting milk from the mother. My brother and his wife have been split for some time due to her meth addiction. She uses needles. He has had his kids her in Washington state and then just recently tried to bring his wife here to try to help her get clean. He left to go to Alaska and send their stuff back down here and while he was gone she took his truck and the kids. What can we do now?

In England and many many other countries, young teenagers are shown how to drink responsibly with their parents… . It’s generally not as taboo over there and one can legally drink at 18, rather than 21 over here in the States. Here, most parents are extremely paranoid and people seem to have this idea that if you drink under the age of 21 it’s dangerous. And yet, when the kids get out of the house, not being shown personally by their parents, they drink at 18 anyway and turn into binge drinkers. I’m not saying England doesn’t have binge drinkers, but it seems to me most are able to handle it better.

I grew up in the midwest and I was lucky to have a smart mom who had me start drinking glasses of wine occasionally with her during Christmas or my birthday. So I never actually got into drinking until I was 20 while the rest of my friends, who’s parents forbid it, had a fairly high rate for alcoholism, while I absolutely did not.

So my question is…why are Americans so paranoid that they make the problem worse? And is what I have said true or am I just basing this on my limited experience? My husband is English and he told me a bit, but that very well may be only certain groups of people over there who have that opinion…though I did read articles about it. Ok, enough rambling. Actually, in MOST states it’s legal for the parents to let their children drink in their own home. But most people don’t even know this, lol.

So if you don’t teach your kids to drink when they’re 15, they will teach themselves at age 18, illegally anyway, and binge drink, and drive home. lol
So maybe American kids are just more stupid than European kids? Maybe the schools teach them to be spoiled bratty jerks that don’t respect themselves or anyone else. lol
And adults well over 21 drink and drive all the time, so what does that prove?

I think drinking age should be 18 and the parents should have their kids drink a glass of wine every few months. I don’t think you should give a 12 year old a beer every day, that’s just stupid. I don’t mean it like that!

so, for my birthday, me and a bunch of my friends were going ot the mall. UNfortuantely, my mom had to go pick my brother up from camp, so i asked my friend brooke for a ride. she said sure, but asked if i could give her a ride back from a party the following night. that was good, so it was set. so then,i was getting ready, and two of my friends whom brooke was also gonna give a ride to decided just to meet us at the mall(thank god, they didnt know brooke and would be soo mad at her mom)so when brooke arrived, she warned me that her mom was a little bit emotional. i was like ok, expecting maybe her parents had got in a fight. But, in the car, it soon became apparent that her mom was not fit to drive. she was slurring her words, and kept reapeating the same questions to me. she missed our turn to the mall, but i didnt notice her swerving or anything. still, i was scared, the whole way, but very polite. then, when we got there, i was like, no offense brooke, but your mom was acting drunk
then brooke was like, oh yeah, she was, but she didnt want me to say anything. my dad wanted me to call him when we got here, to make sure she we were alive! i was shocked! brooke seems to feel really guilty, but idk! should i tell my mom? my mom would never let her parents drive me anywere again. brooke didnt even know the other two girls we were gonna give a ride and if they had come she couldave killed us all. what to do?

I recieved a phone call from my little sister who is 17, last night. I am 25 and live with my husband and 3 year old son. I haven’t lived with my mother since I was 18, I always felt guilty leaving my sister with her.
My mother is a very angry person, our father passed away when I was 16 and since then it seemed like my mother had gotten worse. She has bipolar disorder as well as an anger problem. And she is a recovered alcoholic, and she used to hit me a lot, but she never laid a hand on my sister, by the time she came around my mother stopped hitting and drinking. My mother does not get any sort of help, won’t see doctors or take medication. Only reasons she quit drinking was my father threatened to leave and take the kids with him. I am worried about my sister mentally and emotionally. When my mom gets mad she gets immature, saying nasty rude things, giving her the silent treatment, making messes around the house knowing my sister who is a serious neat freak will spend hours cleaning it. Not to mention my sister is the only one that does any chores at all, my brother who is also 25, we are twins, still lives there. He is unemployed but still will not help out. I know it sounds like I am rambling, but I am so worried about her, and I am seeing that my 3 year old is already getting scared, he gets very scared and angry at himself when he does something that he knows my mother would be mad about. I have his peditrician recommending I take him to a therapist, and it really scares me. I am not even sure what to do at this point. Should I say something to my mother? Or is it too late for my sister? I am worried about my son too….I am just not sure what I can do at this point.
